Wireless Setup Gotcha
on December 29, 2011

Software load into my laptop went smoothly with 1 exception. I learned the hard way you must select Wireless connection (early in the process) even if you use a USB cable connection for the first installation as recommended in the leaflet installation instructions. The software does not allow you to change to Wireless as I expected it would. I had to uninstall the software and reload to make it work for wireless. Epson should add a cautionary note where they recommend USB cable connection for first install under 'Wireless Connection'.

Easy to Use

I am almost a dinosaur when it comes to electronics. I found setting up the wireless Epson NX430 to be extremely easy, free of confusion and timely. Now I only have a laptop and a multi-function printer. Good-bye old clunky desk and miles of tangled cords!

Would not recommend this product

I installed the NX430 on my computer using a USB cable and disabled the wi-fi in the NX430. Whenever I turn on the NX430 it works correctly, but my computer loses contact with my wi-fi. If I turn off the NX430 my computer is unable to reconnect with the wi-fi. The only way for my computer to re-connect with the wi-fi is to restart the computer. I have tried everything I can think of to fix this probem, but have been unsuccessful. This is a big rpoblem. Otherwise the unit seems to work as expected.

I took it back to the store
on February 5, 2012

I went to the store intending to buy a different brand. The salesperson talked me into the Epson. I spent an hour trying to run the installation routine. I ran it with the cable and without the cable. It never would print a page, even though the printer said everything was good and the computer interface said the same thing. When I did a little searching,I discovered that a lot of people had trouble with Epson printers not liking wireless router settings. Almost all said theu had to reset their routers, sometimes on a regular basis, to get the printer to work.
I put the printer back in the box and returned it and bought the brand I originally intended to buy.
Thanks for a perfectly wasted day, Epson! Needed that.

The installation and set-up were user friendly. I appreciate the wireless product because I am not as intimidated to use both computer and printer. A real challenge for seniors who have been out of the work force for a period of time.

Right out of the Box

I removed the printer from the box, removed all the tape and foam, installed all of the ink, logged the printer into my wifi network and right away I was able to send pictures and documents to print directly from my iPhone and iPad. It took just a couple minutes to instal it to my iMac, now I'm wirelessly printing from my iMac too. It took about 10 min to install it to the PC, but it works just the same, no problems and a crisp print.

This is a nifty little printer for air printing from the cell phone or iPad. It prints at a reasonable speed. It does not, however, print good pictures. You need a better photo printer for that.
