We're on our 4th or 5th coffee percolator because we like our coffee hot and strong--drip coffeemakers just don't do it. This is our 3rd West Bend but won't be our last, because the West Bend models we've used last longer than the others and cost less. Bravo!
this percolator is great, i was always a percolator customer but this pot with a see through window for volume viewing is extremely helpful. this is worth buying for sure...
Good pot. Coffee hot. Tastes good. Gave it 4 stars because it’s so loud when it perks it wakes me up. Had a few percolators and this has never happened before.
Used one while in Texas earlier this year and was so impressed by the taste of the coffee. I bought one soon as I returned home..so much more flavor out of your coffee versus a drip maker..
My in-laws fourty years ago had a percolator that you just put on the stove, it smelled GREAT and taste GREAT. I can’t find one like they used so I knew west bend was a good product and I bought the Electric Percolator! LOVE IT!
We've been using the West Bend 12-cup percolator for about one month after our automatic drip machine died. Love, love the HOT coffee this perc brews for us every morning! Be aware... this really does make lots of loud, gurgly noises and puffs as mentioned in other reviews. Never experienced this with our old-timey percolator. Yet, it doesn't seem to affect the performance of brewing a great cup of coffee. The knob on top feels like plastic; not glass (reason for only 4-stars). Therefore, we're being careful not to bang around the lid. It once did leak several streams of coffee during the last part of the perc-cycle, but we determined that my husband may have over-filled the basket with grinds. It has not happened again. The pot itself is stainless steel. We unplug the perc when finished with morning coffee, and then simply rinse the kettle out with warm water. No residue or build up so far. I believe that if you leave the coffee perc plugged in all day you will have any liquid evaporate and eventually scorch the bottom of the pot where the rod sits. Just unplug it. Only time will tell about the craftsmanship and quality of this percolator. We hope to have it for years since we're delighted with the taste, heat, and quality of our coffee!
