Made best coffee till plastic knob broke

I bought this several months ago and loved the coffee. I am not a coffee drinker till I tried this. BUT the tabs on the plastic knob broke off. Now can not tighten up so leaks coffee all down the side onto the counter. And can't get lid off without breaking a finger nail or prying off with a knife.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Great coffee, but....

So, I posted an earlier review to rave about this percolator because it does brew a flavorful cup of coffee. BUT, as I use and clean it, I notice that the pot itself does not look, feel, or sound like stainless steel. It seems to be made of plastic, like a thermos or warming carafe! WestBend states that stem, basket, and diffuser are steel, but does not extend this description to the pot. I submitted this question to WestBend, but no one responded. Disappointing service and sketchy description!
This is the second West Bend 12-Cup Percolator I purchased. What I really like about this brand is that it consistently makes a fine pot of coffee. Better yet, the holes in the coffee basket are small enough that little, if any, coffee grounds passes through. Other models I have used require paper filters to prevent grounds from passing through the basket. The best part is the West Bend 12-Cup Percolator cost less than most competitor brands.
I would recommend this to a friend!

Disappointed in the use of aluminum

I'm disappointed in the use of toxic aluminum in this product for the percolator basket it taints the flavor of the coffee in addition to being unsafe
I bought this about a month ago & it's doing a great job. The quality of the percolator is good, doesn't seem cheap in the least. And it makes a great cup of brewed coffee. It is a little noisy while brewing, but nothing that would make me not want to use it. Overall I am very happy w/my purchase of the West Bend percolator. Just wish I would have gotten one years ago!
This is nothing like the older model. We have had a small one for 36 years which works good just wanted a larger one but this new one is noisy and if you make a full pot the coffee grounds gets into the coffee. Bad new design, Also when you wash the inside it has sharp edges which cut my finger.
I have bought several of these pots over a number of years. They are the best! For us, they last about 4-5 years before the heating element declines and the coffee is not as hot. But they are easy to care for, require no filters, show how much water you've added, and brew the best perked coffee.
I would recommend this to a friend!

Needs a Glass Knob

The clear knob on top is plastic and discolors and melts after prolonged use. Eventually it won't stay on anymore. This should be made of glass so it doesn't deteriorate or leech plastic into the coffee. So far I liked the percolator and I'd probably get another one if they stick with an all stainless steel design inside the pot and switch to a glass knob on top.
