I haven't sewn anything for over 20 years...my children grew up and I gave away my grandmother's cabinet Singer. I wanted to get back into sewing for my grandchildren. The fancier, computerized sewing machines intimidated me, so I looked for something more familiar. I found the Curvy and couldn't be more pleased! Pros: Easy to thread (great for my 'older' eyes), easy buttonhole tool, convenient CD tutorials, easy bobbin threading, good choices of basic embroidery stitches Cons: Some frequently used parts feel flimsy rather than sturdy, needle threader doesn't always work the first time, the foot pedal moves around a lot and doesn't always respond quickly Overall, I'm excited to get back to sewing and look forward to putting my new Curvy to a workout!

Happiest Sewing Experience I Have Had!

I was sewing within minutes of taking it out of the box. The quick start directions had me up and running with out a hitch unlike my last machine that took forever to get just the bobbin wound and the machine threaded! I plan on doing a lot more sewing now that I don't have to fight the machine anymore. Wonderful!

I am so happy with this machine! It is so easy to use, and it threads itself!!!! It makes my life so much easier! It never catches or bunches up, and is just so very smooth. I can't believe how much I love it! I also love that you can see the bobbin, so you know when it's almost done.

I still love my "Curvy" even after many years!

I've had my Curvy for many years now. I still love using her. Yes, there are plenty of machines out the that can do way more than this one, but she performs very well for the price point. I typically use a combination of antique treadle and electric machines when I sew. I've made several quilts on her and she holds up well. I've had her professionally serviced a couple of times since owning her. Otherwise, I keep her cleaned and oiled. She does have an annoying habit of messing up in the bobbin at times, but I fix that and the fabric I'm working on and then back to work. I've moved her several times and still runs well. My advice would this: If you are looking for good, slightly better than basic machine that does some fancy stitches, then look at this one. If you're looking for more stitches or like to design your own thing, then save up for a computerized machine.

My wife has a Curvy and having much trouble to get it to sew. It will start and sew a few stitches and then beep and stop. She will make several attempts and after a little while, it will make a bang or knock and work fine until she has to fill another bobbin and then it starts all over a gain. We have changed the Bobbins, Needles and Thread and still the same results. Looking to buy another sewing machined it won't be Singer.

I do not know which Curvy she owns, but perhaps this new owners video may help: 8763 https://www.singer.com/Curvy-8763-Sewing-Machine#videos-section
