Poor Sewing Quality

I have had my Curvy for 3 months now. I love the looks and the features of the machine but feel the quality of the stitches are lacking. It seems to skip a lot of stitches. I have notices the stitches ravel a lot even when back stitched. The stitches just do not seem to lock even when customizing the tension. I have tried using the auto feature for tension and it does not work to my satisfaction either. I have made approx 4 quilts in the time I have had the machine. Yesterday I wanted to work on the current one and the foot pedal does not work. It appears the actual socket on the machine the plug goes into is defective. All in all I am fairly disappointed in the quality of this SINGER product.

The Curvy sewing machine is wonderful. It replaces a machine I have had for almost 50 years. I thought it would be hard to use since I was used to a mechanical, basic sewing machine. However, it is very easy to use and the owners manual is helpful as are the tutorials on the CD that came with the machine. I have had the Curvy for 3 weeks and even though I haven't sewn in years, I have already made a tailored shirt. I especially like the ability to remove the extension table and accessory box in order to sew sleeves, pants legs, etc. The automatic needle threader is a time saver as is the button hole foot. They are both easy to use. I would recommend the Curvy to anyone.

I bought my Singer Curvy after sewing with my grandmother's 1918 White treadle machine for many years. I am very satisfied with its performance. It has opened up many possibilities for me that I did not have with my treadle. I am still learning how to use many of the Curvy's features. It is very easy to thread and use the bobbin and easy to operate. I am particularly pleased with the automatic threading feature. It was also an excellent value. The only difficulty that I have encountered has been in sewing thicker fabric pieces, but even this has not been particularly problematic. Overall, I am pleased with the Singer Curvy, and I am sure it will serve me well for a long time to come.

I am 54 years old, been sewing since I was 8 yrs old. I love to sew, but have worked with two wonderful machines. I have a Singer Featherweight and a cabinet model, made in 1952, both Singers. They have served me wonderfully all these years. This winter, I finally broke down and bought a Singer Curvy. I absolutely love it!! It makes mending so much easier. I still intend to use my cabinet model though but wanted you to know how much I love this new machine!!

There is a little bit of a learning curve with this machine, but only because it's completely different from what I was using before. I can't wait to really learn how to do everything well, and open up a new world of possibilities.

At this point I’m just angry

This product has been a nightmare since I got it 10 years ago. It’s just on my last nerve right now. It’s so horrible, I fight with it once about every 6 months. Then I give up. It’s a sentimental thing that was a special gift. I hate that it’s such trash since it was supposed to help me get into my fashion dreams.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

I really hate to give it a bad review because I have always had Singer Machines, but this one has not worked well for me at all. I have not been able to complete one sewing project since I got it as a gift last March. Something seems to always be wrong with the tension and it just sews gobs of thread on the underside of the fabric. I use the correct thd. and needles for the material I am using. I just tried to repair some jeans using a needle for that purpose with heavier thd. for denim and it was a disaster. The thd. all balled up down around the bobbin and I had to unscrew the plate to cut everything out. Any suggestions, I would really like to get to sewing some nice xmas gifts and things for myself and home. Thank you very much!

DON'T WASTE YOUR MONEY

Been sewing for almost 40 years - Have sewn on the cheapest to the most expensive of machines. This is by far the worst machine I have ever used. Had to take it in for service after its second use! The top thread guide cuts the thread about every 12" and you have to rethread. The machine doesn't wind the bobbin tight enough and multiple pieces of thread are picked up from the bobbin causing a huge tangled mess under the presser foot. The stitch options don't work. You have to change them and then turn the machine off for it to reset it, etc., etc., etc. DON'T WASTE YOUR MONEY!
