Nice design poor quality

We bought this cooktop, and paid a premium, because it was GE which has always stood for quality. The knobs started breaking within the first year. They're cheap and plastic– Very off brand. The range is now four years old one of the burners no longer works because the knob stem seems to be jammed, and all but two of the knobs are broken so we have to use pliers. Ugly. Last week the safety knob broke . We have kids so this is more than an inconvenience, it's dangerous. I don't know what happened to this brand, but it's not the one we grew up with.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Love our GE gas cooktop!

We bought this cooktop 3 months ago and love it! We have always had good luck with GE products. Our home and it had an electric cooktop. We always had to judge the heat by the red glow. Love cooking with gas and the knobs to control the degree of heat is very accurate. The griddle is very professional (cast iron) and makes great pancakes. It also looks terrific in our kitchen.

I researched this cooktop for a year before buying, and after installation and turning on, I knew I made the right choice. The men who installed the cooktop were impressed also, pointing out the difference between mine and others they have worked on. So far I am very pleased.
