Poor Quality of key parts

The gas range overall is very good quality with the exception of the "Range Knob Assembly". It is a poorly designed plastic assembly that will brake within months, making the whole gas range literally useless, unless you buy overpriced replacement parts.

cooktop too high from flame

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] We should have paid more attention to the reviewer that stated the flame was too far. Despite the responses that said otherwise, the grates are way too far above the flame. This causes not just a waste of gas, but the pot handles get very, very hot due to the escape of heat along the sides, and the kitchen also gets very hot in the summer, especially if you have multiple burners on simultaneously. If GE would address this issue, I would have immediately given it a 5 star rating, but at this point we have told friends and family not to purchase this model and to pay close attention to other models that they are considering. Since purchasing this model, I have been to several houses that have gas cooktops from other manufacturers, and many of them have better clearances. Unfortunately for us, it's too late. I urge GE to make a new, lower grate and would even be willing to purchase it. It looks great and has plenty of nice features, but if you actually want to cook, look elsewhere.

Main burner broken after 1 year (warranty expired)

I bought this Aug 2015 based on many reviews and really regret it. The central (main) burner has stopped working. It became very stiff to operate (the actual shaft that controls gas flow) and the control knob broke. The warranty is for only one year so it is out of warranty. I'm beyond disappointed that an appliance that costs as much as it does did not last much past a year - in fact 6 weeks past the warranty expiration!
The 'service' call will be expensive just to get someone out. Parts and labor are extra. Do not buy. I'll be communicating this to others.

We bought this cooktop 2 years ago, it was purchased for the looks and the fact we love cooking with gas. I've waited two years to review it, I wanted to give it an accurate rating. I have to agree with some reviews about the grates, they are definitely too high, still don't understand the design behind it, it would be more efficient and save you more on gas if they were lower to the burner, less heating time needed per pot/pan used. We love the griddle, it cooks great once it finally heats up. We love the middle power boil burner, it heats up fast and does not boil over, I love the simmer option, my sauces and chillies come out delicious, the fact there are 4 burner sizes is definitely a plus!
Then there is the knobs. They look very nice but they are cheap plastic and rust in the dishwasher. The bottom piece that seals the knob to the cooktop fell off and now we have 3 useless knobs, I will have to order a new set after I finish this review, not looking forward to that.
Cleaning it is a mission, don't use an abrasive sponge or you will end up with a scratched top, I scratched it on the very first cleaning. My suggestion? Don't let food dry up on the top, wipe immediately clean with a SOFT sponge. For tough stains, cover the burners with a bowl, spray easy off, wait a few hours then wipe clean. I use a stainless steel cleaner with a microfiber cloth to bring back it's shine. The actual burner parts all go into the dishwasher along with the grates and come out brand new. The griddle gets washed with hot water and a brush then reasoned with Crisco.
The only reason why I would recommend the product is because we looked at several brands and GE was the only one that we liked with the griddle option, I love to make hashbrowns, pancakes and french toast Sunday mornings. It does take a few months to get to know your product especially it's performance with different types of cooking materials such as cast iron. But once you learn to use it, you will love the outcome.

Cheap plastic knobs are all broken

Bought this stovetop a few years ago and one-by-one, the knobs have all broken due to the cheap plastic base. Until they fix this faulty part, I would recommend finding a different stove top. Check out the review section for the knobs to see more info on this issue from other buyers.

Great Cook Top with a KNOB design defect.

GE I had this Cooktop since 2015 and really everything about it , expect the poor knob design mounting the gas steam, i started having issues with the knobs and started playing musical chairs until they bad...This started after 1 year of owning the cooktop. I don't understand how GE would use plastic on something that is essential to the stove. I just had order another set, they are not cheap and expect them to last longer.

Grates are made too far above flame - poor design

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] The grates on this model are too far above the flame. We have had GE repairmen out and it is simply a very poor design - no way to "fix" it. Beautiful model but unfortunate function. It takes 25 minutes to boil water on any burners except the middle burner. The others are basically unusable. GE should revisit this model's design. We are working with our vendor to replace the model with another cooktop.
