Love the five burners!

We've been using this for about a year now after remodeling our kitchen. Love the middle burner for large pots. The lock-out feature is nice and the blue lights around the knobs remind us if the burners are still on.
I would recommend this to a friend!

Disappointed in Quality

We bought this in late 2016, based on reviews we had seen here and on the Home Depot site. The model looks great and is easy to clean, but problems started within the first year.
The first problem is the poor quality of the knobs. The stem is plastic and is prone to break. We've gone through 12 knobs to date (one broker again yesterday) and I will always have to have backups ready to go. I don't think we are especially hard on the cook top; in fact, probably less so than others. The first set of 5 replacement knobs was covered because they broke within the first year. My next order of knobs was not covered because it was about 16 months from purchase. The knobs are $22 a piece, but GE did give me a break on the price.
The second issue is the gas valve for the burners. Our first one went out within the warranty (knob won't turn when valve is broken) and the tech installed it for free. Two more valves went out yesterday (knobs won't turn) and I am going to be paying for that.
Very disappointed in the quality. I can understand a part being defective and going bad, but these problems appear to be systemic.

Fast to boil water

I had to replace my gas cook top and after much research decided on the GE Cafe Series 36" gas unit. This unit boils 6 cups of water in less than five minutes, can simmer spaghetti sauce for hours without stirring and I love the illuminated control knobs when turned on. I highly recommend this unit.

Ordered this as upgrade for new home. Very pleased. Gas flame can be adjusted to keep something barely simmering without worrying about scorching. Also congrats to design team for curved interior which is a breeze to clean.

Not enough BTU’s. Takes forever to boil water.

The 36” gas cooktop takes 15 minutes plus to boil water in a tea kettle. The 1 small burner won’t boil water in same tea kettle at all as the flame is very small. The power burner doesn’t have the BTU’s I expected. The griddle didn’t get hot enough to crisp bacon. I am very disappointed.

it does what it's supposed to do, and the middle super burner is really good for big pots of boiling. I like the 'lock feature' to keep burners from being turned on.

Feature Improvement from good to the best

The cooktop is good EXCEPT the grate design raises the cooking saucepan and pots too high above the burner flame. This takes longer to heat anything. Compare this to Wolf 36 inch model . GE can be competitive if you only improve the design of the grates. Seems teh designers has not used the cooktop. Just this one feature will improve teh performance by a leap. Hope you take this seriously. Will welcome feedback and discussion if necessary.
