A cooktop that looks as good as it performs

In the arena of well built, high featured gas cooktops, the GE Cafe Series 36" stands at the top in features and performance. From the cast iron cooking grates and griddle insert, to the LED lighting system that lets you know when the gas is on, GE design engineers must have taken the position of a consumer, and made sure they accomodated the most important issues that a cook looks for in best rangetop performance. We're very satisfied, in the short time we've have this new cooktop, and feel it lived up to our high expectations.

Amazing cooktop!

My wife & I ordered this cooktop as an upgrade with our new home and are so happy we did! Our favorite feature is the LED lights in the knobs which indicate when the burners are on...a big plus having kids in the house who are old enough to cook but not always observant. We haven't used the griddle yet, but are very excited to try it out soon. The only concern so far, although its been more of an observation than concern, is the opening in the burner - we have a small coffee percolator that we're worried will fall through...other than that, it has been the best cooktop we've ever owned.

Shame about the knobs!

I LOVE my Cafe Gas cook top and we have been using it for 6 months . Unfortunately this week, one of the gas knobs just "broke and we had to turn the gas off with pylers! I would like to know if we can ourchase teh set of knobs in metal rather than have them in plastic?

Love the look and design along with the added lockout feature. The power boil center burner is wonderful with cooking with large pots, cooking pasta is a breeze. The griddle accessory is great for pancakes and bacon.

Purchased this Cooktop to replace a Profile Glass and Gas cooktop. Fantastic Upgrade(?). This unit is infinitely easier to use and most importantly, to clean.

Grates are made too far above flame - poor design

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] The grates on this model are too far above the flame. We have had GE repairmen out and it is simply a very poor design - no way to "fix" it. Beautiful model but unfortunate function. It takes 25 minutes to boil water on any burners except the middle burner. The others are basically unusable. GE should revisit this model's design. We are working with our vendor to replace the model with another cooktop.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.
