Awesome cooktop

I ordered this after our very old electric cooktop died! I chose this due to the cook knobs being in front, not in the middle or side. The light glows when you are cooking so if you forget and leave one on, it reminds you. I read some reviews that said the height of the bruners were too high, they were wrong. I have tried all the burners and they heat up very quickly, even on low! LOVE, love love my new top!
I would recommend this to a friend!

Did not meet my expectations

I bought it but was not able to use for my cooking as the grates were too high and the heat loss was so great that it was almost impossible to cook a good meal on time.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Grill are so high it takes to long to cook and consumes too much gas. The heat lost on the sides is unbearable.

The GE Cafe Series was installed by the builder of our new home - I had no choice with the GE line of appliances (gas cooktop; dish washer; electric wall oven; microwave; ventilator hood). At first I was very excited because these are "supposed" to be top of the line products but now I'm so disappointed I wish I could rip each and everyone out & install another brand.
The gas cooktop takes forever to heat a pot or pan - the grills are too high above the burners which makes heating a pan a very long process; the burners are NOT sealed and spills will seep beneath them; the control knobs are located on top & center and interfere with cooking; the stainless steel is difficult to clean. After each meal the entire cook top needs to be disassembled in order to be cleaned, which is so time consuming & difficult.
Overall this is a "difficult" cook top. I miss my glass induction cooktop which was easy to maintain and I didn't have to take 30 minutes to clean.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Cooks great, but......

I am so happy to be back cooking on gas, and this stove top is great for that. I know that it is all the rage now, having the cast iron grates raised, but I prefer to have the grates closer to counter level. In order to clean the surface under the grates, you have to lift the double grates, and this old lady finds them rather heavy. The stove cleans easily though as does the console. Love the grill, though I have to get someone to put it on the cook top as it is heavy. Nice, even cooking on the grill! All in all, I am pleased with the cook top and grill.

My cooktop

Came with the new house we purchased. Takes a little longer than I am accustomed to heat (except for "one super burner"), because of the distance from flame to pan. Owned previous one for 12 years.

I like the blue light at the knob, this let you know which burner is on. Also the grill was very thoughtful.
