I have been using my new 5 burner CE Cafe coooktop for almost a year. I have really enjoyed it. I like the super hot / quick boil middle burner. The blue lights under the flame control knob is helpful in knowing which burners are on without having to look under the pot. Having a burner lock feature is a nice to have. Being "sunken", makes for easy cleanup of spilled liquids. I have used the flat grill with the dual burner grill setting. To me, it did not make much of a difference replacing the burner grate with the grill grate for making pancakes vs. using a regular flat grill on the regular burner grate. I do find that the stainless steel edges where the grate and stainless steel meet are prone to small scratches from the grates. I would definitely consider buying another GE Cafe cooktop if the need arose. I have received complements about the cooktop when people who have come to the house have seen the GE Cafe cooktop.
Purchased the week of Thanksgiving 2014. Performance is excellent. Cast iron grates and griddle work extremely well and are positioned optimally over gas rings. Very please with BTU output. Only slight downside is ergonomics and quality of knobs. Can be difficult to turn for those with arthritis. One knob also broke within 4 months of use, but was covered under warranty--waiting for replacement.
We just had this installed less than a month ago in a complete kitchen remodel. Like many of the other posts, I have found this cooktop vexing because the grates sit too high and it takes far longer to cook on this cooktop than with our previous electric glass cooktop. I plan to blog and post extensively about this issue until I see resolution with GE providing grates that sit lower. This is simply unacceptable and I wish that I could still exchange this cooktop for another model.
