It changes everything

This cooktop has changed the entire look of my kitchen. The burners are better suited to the cooking I enjoy, the power boil is a nice touch since I am at higher altitude.
I would recommend this to a friend!

Already broken

After 9 months of normal household use, the burner knobs are already breaking. Actually, the knobs are fine, but the valves that the knobs control are locking up which makes using the cooktop impossible.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

As an Architect that specified many GE products to my clients now for myself this GE Cafe gas 36" is by far an excellent gourmet cooking appliance. Heavy cast grates - Premium cast iron grates deliver the highest level of cooktop performance
Excellent cooking controls for various heating elements especially the large 20,000 BTU burner for large pots. Sealed cooktop burners - Burner elements are sealed to the cooktop to keep foods and liquid contained on the cooktop, making cleaning painless.
Non-stick griddle - Prepare pancakes, eggs, bacon and more on the large, non-stick surface
Precise Simmer burner - Allows for low, even heat distribution that is ideal for delicate foods and sauces
LED backlit knobs - Sleek LED backlit knobs indicate when burners are on.

Defective from the Start

We purchased this Cafe cook top and had it installed in March 2015, after 4 service call for the valves not working right they are coming out a 5th time with more parts once again, Not our first GE appliance but might just be our last!!! Very disappointed that they continue to inconvenience us.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

What a great cooktop!

We love the look and features of this cooktop! We've had it a couple of months now. The center burner heats quickly on high, but can be taken down to a very low simmer, like you need for rice, or long, slow cooking. Love how the knobs light up so you know when they are on, even if the burner is on too low to notice the flame.
We are being very careful with the knobs when removing them to clean, because we read about the plastic stems possibly cracking. (We actually saw this on the model at the store!) The cast iron grates are quite heavy, but easy enough to handle. They must be moved to do a good job of cleaning the stainless. We clean it daily, and so far, no "staining" that is resistant to removal and shining up. And we don't think the grates are too high... they are about the same as our old GE stove we replaced. I do recommend this stove, and look forward to many years of use.
