Tricks to Tally!

Back in the day when these were being newly marketed, I was not impressed. Even the strong coffee in a small cup did not impress me. Then a friend got a Platinum model. I tried it, and could not beleive the difference. My wife got me my own for Christmas! I love it, because I don't pour 1/2 a pot of coffee down the drain, and I can pick and choose what I feel like drinking! It's great for makinghot cocoa for the kids, and tea for my wife and sister. NOTE: After having this for about a month, it appeared to be busted. My wife called for help, and it was only a clogged needle. THE ANSWER: When you pop in the K-cup, push it in hard enough to puncture the bottom. This releases the pressure and prevents a blast of grounds upwards into the upper puncture needle. It hasn't plugged up once in the 4 months I have been doing this. (This tidbit of info really helps out at altitude.)
Pros: Multiple Settings, Stylish, Accommodates All Cup Sizes, Easy to use
Cons: Finnicky
I would recommend this to a friend!

Hardly worth the hassle

I have used the Keurig system since Christmas 2008 and my third brewer just bit the dust. None of my brewers has lasted longer than 11 months. Fortunately the customer service people are very understanding and work with you to attempt to resolve the problem. Waiting for a week or longer for a new machine to come from Keurig is a bummer.
Pros: Accommodates All Cup Sizes
Cons: HARD TO CLEAN

On second brewer

I purchased my first platinum brewer on boxing day, 2010. I absolutely loved how easy it was to use and how convenient it is to only make one cup at a time. I read a plethora of reviews online that told me to avoid this particular model since it has been known to break down, but it was on sale at Future Shop so I went for it. It worked fine until April 2011 (it was only three months old) when it stopped releasing water and made a horrible grinding noise. I regularly cleaned it, used filtered water, and it still broke. I called customer service and they had me clean it on the phone and ended up sending me a new one for free. Here's hoping brewer #2 doesn't die.
Pros: Stylish, Accommodates All Cup Sizes, Easy to use
Cons: Stopped working

I really enjoy owning this machine. I am however on my fourth brewer. Similar to other comments on this page, it's a hassle to call Keurig when it stops working but the customer service folks always resolve the issue in the end. For me specifically, I'm on my fourth brewer since 2009…it's bitter sweet. If my current one dies again, maybe I'll try a different model. I've stuck with the same Platinum version since the beginning…bottom line, buy it, but know that you may too have to replace often. It's a trade off. I guess I'd rather deal with this on occasion vs. grinding beans and brewing an entire pot of coffee everyday.
Pros: Easy to use, Multiple Settings, Accommodates All Cup Sizes, Stylish

I am having the BEST time with this brewer! I love that I can make espresso, lattes, iced or hot coffee, teas, cocoa & more! Add some flavored syrups, a little whipped cream...Irish cream perhaps? I am saving tons of time and money by not having to dump unused coffee down the drain or by going to my (old) favorite coffee shop! Fresh - every single cup - delicious! The other great thing is entertaining is so easy! I am so proud to offer my guests such a wonderful selection. Sometimes, I wonder if my guests or visiting me? Or, my Keurig....HmMmMm MmMmMm...who cares? We are having a blast! Best of all? Virtually NO clean up! A++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++!

Failure

I have had three of this model now and the only thing that has changed is the length of time they work has gotten shorter. The first one lasted a little over a year before it stopped brewing coffee so I bought a new one. It stopped working after about six months. Same issue. Called customer service and went through jamming a paperclip where the tech directed but no change. Keurig sent a new one. The new one started acting up after about two weeks and is just getting worse. Every few days I have to do the paperclip routine and even then it sometimes takes 30 minutes or more before I can finally get a cup of coffee. I use water that runs through two filters and cleaning has never helped. I may buy a machine from some other manufacturer but I'm through with Keurig machines.
Cons: Failure Prone, Fragile

Not as happy as I used to be

I have owned a Special Edition for 2 years and it has worked well consistently. It is, however, VERY LOUD! I had racked up enough Club points for a newer, quieter version, so I ordered the Platinum in order to get a brewer with more cup size choices. I have had it for 3 months now, and it no longer works correctly. It won't draw water from the reservoir into the machine. I called customer service and went through the suggested fixes to no avail. They sent a new K cup holder which made no difference. Then they sent a new reservoir. Same. Then they had me reset the computer. Worked for 1 day, then same old, same old. Called today for new brewer, which they are sending. Customer service EXCELLENT! Product...not so much.
Pros: Easy to use, Stylish, Multiple Settings
Cons: Fragile

My brewer started short cupping and then wouldn't brew at all. Having had the brewer a little over a year I was nervous about the warranty being expired. I called and talked to a brewer specialist and they walked me through several trouble shooting fixes. Sadly, none worked. Keurig stood behind their product and a new brewer is on the way, free of change. I love my Keurig and the customer service I have received from the company!!!!!
