Great coffee system for a bachelor!

In terms of a cost effective means of brewing single cups of coffee, the Keurig Platinum Brewing System is perfect!! While the k-cups are costly, using your own coffee with the cup adapter is the way to go!!
Pros: Easy to use, Multiple Settings

2nd brewer not working
on February 16, 2014

This is my second brewer. With my first, I had prime issues within two months. Keurig sent a replacement brewer and within TWO WEEKS, I had a prime sign, removed water reservoir, reattached it per the manual, put in coffee and pushed brew when directed and no coffee came out. Watied several minutes and nothing. The water was not pumping up from the reservoir to the Kcup to start the brewing process. I contacted Keurig again and they offered a 3rd machine which I declined and they are sending Fed Ex out to pick the 2nd one up. While the first one, had prime issues, I could unplug it and plug it back in and it would work. Thinking of scrapping the whole Keurig concept and getting a refund at the store of purchase for the first machine. This is a good idea in theory, but in practice it is not working well. They are not making quality machines IMHO. They KNOW this; the internet is filled with negative reviews, but they are not addressing it. They try to make it seem as if it is a sediment/water issue but real issue seems to be the computerized mechanism of the brewer itself, IMHO. It is flawed. I know people who have older brewers (2years or more) who have never had an issue -that was what convinced me to buy it in the first place. But the newer ones seem to be poorly made. Instead of coming out with newer types of brewers, Keurig needs to perfect the original models first. I sense that the profit for them is in the Kcups not the brewers because when you get a replacement, they only thing they ask you to send back is the kcup holder part- they don't even want the whole machine back, which is an indication of its value IMHO. Since I cannot even seem to get through 3 months of usage without problems, I cannot recommend anyone purchase this brewer. Keurig offered to send me a different model of brewer butI have read similar reviews about other models. I am not inclined to keep trying out different brewers.
Pros: Easy to use
Cons: Pricey / Poor Value

Replacement On Its Way - what service!
on April 28, 2014

Ok.. I said I would be back to let you know what happened. Within 5 minutes of sending my e-mail to Keurig Customer Service...I got a response and was speaking to a very pleasant rep named Arnita. She had me perform a few tests..asked me where, when I bought it etc. Then told me a NEW one would be on its way to my house within a week. I NEVER expected this. This was the quickest of any service issue resolution that I believe I have ever experienced. Mine was over a year old - though very seldomed used - but still, I figured I would be told tough luck. Bottom line...they appear to stand behind their product when there is an issue so I am not sure what happened with any of the others who had similar issues as I did. At this point, I feel good about changing my "not recommend" to a "recommend!"
Pros: Multiple Settings, Stylish, Accommodates All Cup Sizes, Fast

Our Keurig and our handicapped son
on December 2, 2009

Our Platinum Keurig arrived yesterday and we immediately began to experiment. I noticed that our young adult son was watching closely -- he is mentally handicapped. I asked him if he'd like to make some coffee and he came right in, put in the Kcup of his choice, added his favorite mug and pushed the brew button. He made a perfect cup of coffee all by himself. We were not prepared for his utter delight, he was so proud of himself! He is making all of the coffee around here today for everyone and never tires of hearing what a terrific job he's done. Thank you, Keurig family, for this unexpected blessing~
Pros: Accommodates All Cup Sizes, Easy to use, Multiple Settings, Stylish

pump problems

I am on my 3rd B77 brewer in less than a month, The first one just shut off after 2 days, exchanged for a new one, the second would shut off after each brew. Keurig then sent me a replacement, so far it is working OK but can only use bottled water. It seems there is a major problem with the pump. Many other consumers have had similar problems. I would not recommend this product.
Pros: Accommodates All Cup Sizes

I hope the third time's the charm

First I'll say that the Keurig is a great concept. I love the quality of the coffee and the wide selection of k-cups from multiple roasters. Despite all that, there's a big problem brewing in Keurig land. I used to love my Keurig, and I may again if they fix the pump problem in their B70. I had a B70 for about 6 months when the pump began to fail. I called and explained the problem and they replaced my unit without question. I was impressed. I had the replacement about 4 months when I began to have the same issue - about 2 out of 3 brew attempts the pump would fail. I had to turn it off and back on, and sometimes go through the descaling process before it would work again. I was having to descale about every 2 weeks, and still it was failing. When I called tech support they had me clean the top needle that pierces the k-cup with a paper clip. I made this call and was told to repeat this process 3 different times. It helped for a few days then the problem resumed. I was fed up, sent Keurig a last ditch email before I gave up on their product altogether, and they sent me a 3rd brewer. This is a flawed product. I suspect it may be why it is out of stock until April 2010.
Pros: Multiple Settings, Quiet brewing, Easy to use
Cons: HARD TO CLEAN, Fragile, Unreliable Pump

Have a Paperclip Handy

Was given this as a gift. Never even heard of these, but loved it from the start. My local coffee shop has unfortunately lost my patronage, but at ~ $0.30 per cup...you can't go wrong. I had the same problem with the clogging when it punctured the k-cups. Took three weeks for me to finally have the time during the day to contact. They were very nice, but not sure why they can't just email you the instructions on shoving a paperclip in the upper cutting device to clear the clog. Would have same me several weeks. Now I'm looking on this site to select a unit to purchase for my office. Coffee is so good that I want the convenience and quality in my office for a second cup! Would like to see a redesign so I don't have to unplug. The reservoir is probably the best feature along with auto on / off feature.
Pros: Easy to use, Auto Shut Off, Programmable, Fun, Stylish, Multiple Settings, Wake Up Timer
Cons: Clogs

Don't wait for de-scale words to show up
on September 15, 2010

I love the brewer but don't wait for the descale words to show up to clean. Once the words show up on the brewer its to late. The brewer stops working. The brewer had been cleaned at least once, de-scale never showed up. Customer service could only provide a small discount on a new one due to it being past warrenty, however barely. Representative compared it to a car when the oil light goes on. I suggested it should be in the mannuel. Hey Keurig why have the de-scale words show up at all if they don't work. When talking to a friend after the fact I found out that it happened to her as well. Going to try again but very disappointed I have had 29.99 coffee brewers last as long as 10 years. These are way to expensive to only make it a year. I do love the coffee and the convience of the brewer. However I would not recomend to a friend without telling them about the problem in fact I have already done so.
Pros: Accommodates All Cup Sizes, Stylish, Easy to use, Multiple Settings
