love it when it works...

I am on my fourth platinum brewer! My first I got in March of 2009 which lasted only 2 months it kept shutting off, then the second lasted the longest until Oct 2010 then suddenly it was acting like it was brewing a cup of coffee and nothing came out, the third last 1 month and that said descale (which I did) but it did not fix, now I am on my fourth and praying that it lasts. I have to say the costomer service is great when I called they have you troubleshoot different problems and they stay on the phone the whole time and if it does not fix then they just send a brand new one they even throw in a couple boxes of k cups for dealing with the hassle. Although when I asked them how its possible that I am on my fourth brewer they just had a generic answer. [...] All you have to do is send back the k cup holder. I keep the other parts just in case the reservior tank cracks I have a new one. With that said when the brewer works I am totally addicted to it. I love the variety of coffee and tea and since my fiance is not a coffee drinker I dont waste a whole pot of coffee. Also my sister has the model under the platinum I think its just the basic one and she has not had one problem with it for two years. I think it might be the platinum version. The platinum is nothing special the cup sizes are not that much different in size and the new one doesnt have the ice coffee feature on it anymore. I am not sure why they took it off. So if you are thinking about getting a keurig I would recommend just sticking with the regular one, the platinum is nicer looking but it is really unnecessary.
Pros: Stylish, Accommodates All Cup Sizes, Easy to use
Cons: HARD TO CLEAN

No Good!

I bought this coffee maker in December of 2010, last week it stopped working. It no longer gives me a cup of coffee, it gives me a few drops of coffee. It appears to extract the water out of the reservoir but the water does not make it to the kcup and into the coffee cup. I am very disappointed as I paid 170 dollars for this. A coffee brewer this expensive should not quit after a year. This maker was a big hit for a long time but is proving itself unreliable. Its to bad, its makes great coffee and the idea is brilliant. Perhaps if keurig would make good on our purchases they could save their name and reputation.

Couldn't be Happier

Bought this one to use at home and took my old one to keep in my classroom. I love the option of using my own coffee. My wife makes her iced coffee the night before. Both of our machines have been used for every type of beverage that is available. Great Iced tea. I have not had a single problem with either of my machines. Sorry to those of you that have not had the same luck.
Pros: Durable, Multiple Settings, Easy to use, Stylish, Accommodates All Cup Sizes

Fourth time a charm?

My husband and I use our Keurig every day and, like many others, are on our fourth unit in less than 2 years. The first, which was a Special Edition was a gift and within 9 months started to shut down and/or stop brewing. Keurig replaced it with the Platinum model. 8 months later, it too stopped brewing. About a month ago, we received replacement #3 and within a month's time the Prime indicator kept coming up after each brew. We were led through the usual troubleshooting process; but, once again, Keurig customer service stood behind the product and #4 arrived today. Fingers are crossed! I mentioned to the CSR that all of these frequent replacements must be costing the company an awful lot of money but her response was that their goal is to ensure that the customer is happy with the product. So, if they're willing to keep replacing, I'm willing to keep trying! It does make a very good cup of coffee and, although per cup it may be more costly than a drip brewer, I don't throw out leftover coffee and no longer have to make a separate pot of decaf for my husband. Under normal circumstances, I would give the product 1 star, but when it works it's worth 5 and their customer service is worth 10. And you just can't beat the convenience!
Pros: Convenient, Good Coffee, Easy to use, Fast
Cons: Unreliable

Life span = MAX 8 months.

I am disgusted with this unit. I bought mine in December 2010. I have done all the proper maintenance as suggested in the booklet. I have de-scaled every 3 months. Yet, by July 2011, the thing didn't work. Called customer service and they were very nice. They worked with me to do some basic cleaning and checking of things. Then, they decided that the K-cup holder was bad. They sent me a new one, free of charge. When it arrived, I put it in and, sure enough, the brewer worked. However, a little over a month later... same thing. Now they tell me they'll send me a new brewer (the same junky one, of course), but I'm required to send back the 'free' K-cup holder I received to 'fix' my old brewer. SERIOUSLY?? Not only will I be stuck with another lemon of a coffee pot, but, I also have to send back the part that they KNOW goes bad??? COME ON!! This is ridiculous. I'm sorry. DON'T waste your money on this brewer. Try a Mr. Coffee, Cuisinart, or one of the other Keurig models. This one definitely isn't worth the cost.
Pros: Accommodates All Cup Sizes, Easy to use, Multiple Settings, Fast
Cons: Doesn't last, HARD TO CLEAN, Short life span, Pricey / Poor Value, Fragile

terrible and VERY disappointed

Received this as a Christmas item and was very excited as we only drink 2 cups of coffee a day, both in the morning and it took only a few months for it to stop working. In July we called and the customer service people were very nice and helpful and sent us a new one, well, it is now September and we have just received our 2nd replacement (3 total) because this last one kept saying "prime" and flashing constantly. I guess I would understand if it was a cheap coffee pot (you get what you pay for) but this is NOT! We only have 2 cups a day!!! We do not have a large family where it is being used constantly, so this is getting very old. I love the concept but Keurig really needs to make a better quality machine!!!!
Pros: Easy to use
Cons: Pricey / Poor Value

Keeps breaking
on September 8, 2011

Got the 1st one for my birthday in March 2010. It broke after 2 weeks (pump stopped working), so [...]exchanged it and the 2nd one stopped working after 3 days. I sent that one back to Keurig and was told that this model has a known problem with the pump. The 3rd one lasted 11 months, so just before the warranty expired. Keurig sent me a new one and that one broke after a week. So, now I'm on number FIVE in 1 1/2 years. And this one keeps priming, so I have to remove the water reservoir after each cup and put it back in. I don't want to send this one back, cause I don't know how long the next one is going to last! Customer service told me it must be the hard water. Funny, cause my $30 Mr. Coffee never had ANY problems, which I keep around, so when my Keurig decides to break again, at least I can brew some coffee until the replacement Keurig comes in. I love it when it works, but for what I paid, I expected a better product. Once the warranty is up and I don't get free replacements, I will go back to a regular coffee maker. The hassle is just not worth it.
Pros: Love it when it works
Cons: Keeps breaking
