Love It, But

I bought my first one in March of 2007. It lasted two years. At that point, the de-scale alert started to come on every few days and the unit wouldn't always function. I always used filtered water or distilled. So tap water didn't cause it to fail. These brewers appear to use valves and pumps. They aren't drip machines. So there are moving parts that can wear out. I purchased a new one in September of 2009 ant it's now 12/2/09. I've already had to call Keurig because it won't reliably make coffee. This unit has 5 cup settings. I use the middle, 8 oz, setting. Frequently it does nothing when I try to make coffee, and then the display switches itself to the largest size. Customer support tells me it's a clog. If true, my new unit clogs almost daily. Funny, the old one didn't. And if it's clogged, why will it brew using the same cup and after doing nothing except opening and closing the unit again? Also if I turn the power off and back on, it works (and without cleaning). So I'm not convinced that it's a clog. That may be common, but it's not my issue. I've had days where I waste two or more K-Cups because the pumps, valves, whatever pump too much water or not enough. I really love the brewing concept and the coffee is great, much better than the brewers that use "pods". You can make tea, coffee, and decaf for family and friends without having multiple brewers. I honestly think this particular unit has issues. If the problems continue and I can't convince Keurig to replace it, I may or may not buy another unit. If you get one, and I would recommend it, don't be surprised if you need to replace it down the road.

Good coffee if made in small quantity

I could not do without this coffee maker but I find that the pods are good only on the two lowest settings. I wish that pods were made for the two larger setting that would taste as good. Also, I'm a decaf drinker and I wish there were as great a variety for the decaf drinkers as for the regular coffee drinkers.

Excellent - but not Exceptional

Brews an outstanding cup every time. I have an older model the is still a bit noisy. I can't say how improved the new Quiet Brew Technology is. My only knock on this unit is that the On/Off switch is on the back of the unit at the bottom and is a real pain to get to on a daily basis. I'm not a ritualistic coffee drinker, so I don't have a set time I use the unit every day and I don't want to keep the unit heated up on a continual basis when not needed. Other than that, this is a top notch unit and I've been a Keurig fan for over 8 years.
Pros: Easy to use, Accommodates All Cup Sizes, Multiple Settings, Stylish
Cons: A Bit Loud, Hard to Turn OnOff

best coffee maker we have ever had

I recieved the Special Edition for Christmas last year and just loved it.. Everyone that comes to our house really loves the coffee maker and the coffee. The only complaint is that it is noisy... So we bought the Platinum , equally as good but nice and quiet.. We gave our old Special Edition to my brother and his wife and they are in love with it..The K cups are a little pricey so we use our own coffee... Still a perfect cup of coffee every time....

I've had my platinum for a few months and I love it! I've had the regular one in the past and it was noisy. The platinum is so quiet you hardly hear it brewing. It makes a great cup of coffee and I highly recommend it to all my friends!

OMG it's so easy

We use our Keurig every day. I like the K-Cups - they are very easy to use. Now we can each have the coffee we want at the strength we want it. The motor is very powerful and is noisy when working (first when the unit is turned on, and again when the unit draws water from the reservoir after brewing the coffee).
Pros: Stylish, Multiple Settings, Durable, Easy to use, Accommodates All Cup Sizes
Cons: A little noisy

I must admit that I have been a Keurig fan for quite some time now. My last brewer, one of the first made by Keurig finally stopped working this summer. There was not a question that I would replace it with a newer Keurig brewer. This model is GREAT. Those in the family who prefer tea can easily change the brew size to accommodate their needs. The Keurig is perfect for the family in which every one has a different hot drink preference -- waste is eliminated. Each person can quickly and easily prepare JUST what THEY want to drink.

Last Christmas I purchased the Special Edition Home Brewing System and I absolutely loved it! Well, I saw the Platinum edition advertised with the quiet brewing system and had to have it! I am so happy I purchased the system!
