Love the concept of one cup at a time since I am the only coffe drinker in the house. The two plastic pieces holding the cop holder will not stay in the brewer so I just removed them. Also I like to use my own coffee but it seems to always clog up the brewer. It is too expensive to always buy the kcups. It was a gift so I willput upwith thesz problems.
Cons: Clogged all the time, Pricey / Poor Value, HARD TO CLEAN
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

HORRIBLE QUALITY!

The Plat. Machine started to work poorly after the first couple months. Cust. Serv. said it was a descale problem, they got it working just enough to get me out of the warranty. Now 2 years later and 180 down drain, it has stopped working completely. Tried to descale, and now it doesn't work at all! Called cust. serv. They say I need a new machine, and will give me a coupon. So instead 180, 100! Wow...what a deal. If you need a new brewer every two years, this is the machine for you.
Cons: Pricey / Poor Value, Fragile

I use this brewer every weekday morning, and several times on the weekend. I also use it in evenings for iced tea. The best part about this brewer is how fast it can make a cup of coffee or a glass of iced tea. For coffee, I use k-cups. For tea, I prefer using my own loose tea in the my k-cup reuseable filter. I've had one issue with the brewer returning water to the resevoir and making only a partial cup. I found out a partial vinegar treatment doesn't work. You literally need to go buy a giant jug of vinegar and follow the descale instructions. It really makes all the difference. Brew strength is a bit of an issue. To adjust strength, you either need to adjust your brew size, or use the my k-cup filter and place your own desired amount and grind. Bottom line, this maker takes some getting used to, but it can be alot of fun to use.
Pros: Fast, Consistent, Easy to use
Cons: K-cup price, Resevoir too small

Loved my maker until it stopped working. After a year of everyday use it just stopped working. For such an expensive unit I would hope it would last more than a year.
Pros: Multiple Settings, Accommodates All Cup Sizes, Easy to use, Fast
Cons: Fragile, Pricey / Poor Value

Disappointment

My wife bought me the "Platimun" 2 years ago to take to the office after enjoying our "Elite" brewer for almost a year. Actually took the Elite to work and left the Platimun at home. We have always used filtered water in both brewers and regularly "de-scale" them about every 6 months. A couple of weeks ago the Platimun went into "De-scale" mode. I ran it through the normal de-scaling process, but this time it would not exit de-scale mode. Have left it unplugged for over a week and when I plug it in, it still goes directly to de-scale mode and will not allow you to change anything. Very dissapointed. My 3 yr old Elite, purchased for less the half the price of the Platinum, is still going strong. The fact that there is no way to drain the reserve and easily clean the internal parts is also a strike against this brewer. I will not be replacing the brewer with another Keurig. Buyers beware. While we love the idea of a single cup brewer, the K-cups are extremely expensive. I solved that probelm by purchasing an Ekobrew reusable filter. Thus reducing our expendatures from $80.00 to $100,00+ a month to between $16.00 and $20.00 a month for our favotite coffees.
Pros: Multiple Settings
Cons: HARD TO CLEAN, Complicated, Fragile, Pricey / Poor Value

Priming problems

After brewing a cup it very often keeps whining and not sending the water to the primer. Then it must be unplugged, often more than once, for about 15 seconds and turned back on, in order to make a second cup.
