My Opinion of the Platinum Model

I bought the Platinum Model for myself in November 2009 and for my parents in January 2010. My unit has acted up in the past but my parent's unit has not. It occasionally shuts off after filling it up with water and on rare occasions it brews a cup with less water than was supposed to. Overall we love it, we drink at least three cups per day, and some times up to five. Love it for parties too. I called Customer Service about the shutting off problem and they had me speak to a specialist. I was told that there is a magnet at the bottom of the water reservoir and a magent inside the unit itself. When you fill the water, it sometimes can dislodge the magnets apart which causes the machine to turn off. I used to remove the reservoir each time I filled the water but now I leave it in place. Little issues to get past, but overall love it. Units are backordered right now, but in April I'm using my Rewards points to buy my sister a unit.
Pros: Stylish, Easy to use, Convenient
Cons: Turns Off After Use

Well I just bought my Keurig 3 days ago and WAS so excited to use this machine. I brewed 7 wonderful cups of coffee through with no issues .......Until this morning, it was not on like the other days, I had to manually turn it on. The pump ran for about 2 minutes with the display saying "NOT READY" only to have the machine shut off with no coffee. So I started doing some research on this issue and was disappointed and shocked on how many consumers had this problem. Not only have consumers had this problem once, but after receiving a replacement machine from Keurig it happened again. On some post I've seen consumers that have gone though 4-5 machines. Well after getting off the phone with costumer Service they are shipping me a new machine #2. I asked the Rep. if Keurig has addressed this pump design flaw and his response was yes. I'm hoping this is true, but for now it's back to my old faithful Hamilton Beach Coffee Pot

Cons: Fragile
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Great Machine

Bought this machine in the fall 2009.... It was great, however, I never shut it off and found after a couple of months that the first cup in the morning did not fill. I learned my lesson, I shut the machine off before going to bed. It has not misbehaved since then. Works like a charm and have experimented with many flavours of coffee, tea & hot chocolate! My dinner guests love it!! and so do I!!
Pros: Easy to use, Durable, Multiple Settings, Accommodates All Cup Sizes, Stylish

We Love this Coffee Maker

We use the Platinum everyday and love it. After just over 1 year we started to have some problems with not getting the desired amount in the cup, water spitting, etc. I called Keurig and they had me de-scale the brewer. It didn't work so they sent a new one. I make sure to de-scale every 3 months now. We love this brewer and would never go back to old fashion brewers. Our favorite everyday coffee is Green Mountain Columbian Fair Trade and Hazelnut. The Half-Caf is very good as well as Gloria Jean's Butter Nut Toffee and Timothy's German Chocolate Cake.

The Platinum Brewing System is designed and UL approved for household use. Keurig recommends customers use Keurig brewers consistent with their intended use.

I love this machine, but am on the third one. My husband bought one for me for Christmas and it stopped working immediately. It kept shutting off. The second one worked for about 2 1/2 months and then the pump would not work and it kept shutting off. Both times I returned to the warehouse store where I got it. I did call customer service and they were great, offering to send me a new machine. Since both times were within 90 days of purchase, I chose to return to store. If it happens again, I may just return for refund. I love the coffee and the brewer, just wished it would work.
Pros: Easy to use, Great coffee, Multiple Settings
Cons: Pump stopped working

We got a Keurig at work and fell in love with it. Some friends said I should go with Tassimo instead. WRONG! The Keurig beats the Tassimo hands down.I bought my machine at [...]. We liked the iced tea setting. However, the execution of the iced tea leaves a lot to be desired. The coffee is fantastic, though.I did have the water pump problem, but the Keurig customer service was amazing. No hassle, they just sent me a new one. This one seems to be working great.The Keurig is quiet, easy, and has a great variety of coffee. I highly recommend it.
Pros: Accommodates All Cup Sizes, Stylish, Easy to use, Multiple Settings
Cons: Ice Tea Not Good

I was a little intimidated at first when I opened the box but after getting everything in order it was a breeze to operate. I've had it for 4 months now and have zero issues or complaints! I hope that more coffee/tea companies jump on the K-Cup bandwagon as my only fear is that this is just another trend that will fizzle out in a 2-3 years. All that aside, It's a great idea made reality and I'm enjoying the end result: hot coffee/tea made quietly, quickly and best of all - perfectly.

Cons: Lack of K-cup variety

after 3 replacements, we give up.

After the replacement for the replacement for the replacement died this morning, we've given up on the Platinum and are going with the Breville next. The customer service people are wonderful, the coffee is out of this world, but so far the brewers are absolutely awful. They work for a week or two, then one morning brew half a cup, refuse to accept more water and shut themselves off. Thus begins the endless loop of on, and off ...on and off, with no ability to brew ever returning. But, like I said before, the customer service IS excellent ...sending out replacement brewers readily. I just wish the quality control portion of the company would kick into gear and get these brewers fixed.
