Great till it dies

This unit is great when it works. Unfortunately many many many people have had units stop working within a year or two of ownership. We have a B70 platinum at home and with religious cleaning and no hard water our unit died after 16 months after making typically 4 cups a week. The concept is great, it really is, but they clearly have not worked out the bugs in their hardware. This is the type of situation where they should bite the bullet, admit they had a design flaw, fix it, and extend everyone's warranty to 3 years. A number of other models have similar issues.
Pros: Easy to use
Cons: Bad design
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Brews Excellent Coffee but its Flawed

Purchased my unit after Chritmas 2009 to upgrade from a one cup unit our daughter purchased us for Christmas. Unfortunately Kurig updated this model to silence customer complaints concerning an apparent water pump noise (read this history from internet research on this unit). Unfortunately, in doing so, another more serious problem resulted. The first cup always brews with no problem, its the suceeding cups that won't brew. Thsi is caused by a check valve in the system sticking shut. Apparently, the steam pressure of the first brew pushing through the coffee grinds presses the check valve shut (this doesn't happen with hot chocolate or tea, as they aren't tightly packed like coffee). So after the first cup is brewed, the machine goes into a recharge cycle, and unfortunately the pump that refills the heating chamber cannot open the check valve and the unit's protective circuitry shuts it off. The only rework that works to correct this for the second brew is to move the water storage tank up and down to literally manually push water through the check valve to open it. The pump can then get water and the brew cycle completes properly. Kurig is a great company and they have honored there warranty to anyone that has reported a problem, including myself. I'm waiting for a replacement model with the upgrade fast pump speed program. In the mean time they gave me two internet coupons for free boxes of K-cups for the coffee, tea, etc. of my choice. In the mean time I enjoy my coffee and thump the water tank up and down which keeps the machine going :) The only thing I would recommend to Keurig (as I'm an engineer), is to test, test, test, before you ship your latest upgrade to the consumer....learn from your msitakes.

Great for Tea or Coffee/Great Support

I've had mine for over a month and use it several times a day. I am not a big coffee drinker but do enjoy a cup from time to time. I am however a lover of Great Hot Tea. It is perfect for both. I had a small problem today, but called support and it was fixed in less than 15 minutes. All I had to do was re-set the water holder and I was back in business. Fantastic Support! This was a Great buy for me.
Pros: Easy to use, Multiple Settings, Stylish, Durable, Accommodates All Cup Sizes

14 Months and OUT!!!

I use my machine everyday. My wife bought it for me for a Christmas gift. Well 14 months later the pump stopped working. I have called the company twice to fix this problem but it seems since that it is out of their 12 month warranty, I am on my own. I can't afford [$]every 14 months for a coffee machine. From the other reviews that I have read, others are having the same problems. I hope the company can fix this probelm because it is not right that their product doesn't hold up when you only use it twice a day. KEURIG make this right!!!!!

Love My Keurigs

I have used Keurig for the past 6 years. The Platinum offers the most variety as far as cup sizes and making cold drinks. I began with the odd shaped one size office type. Looks like a soda fountain mixer..I don't think they are made any more. I have another Keurig for my enclosed porch, and of course I have the mini for vacations away from home. I am addicted!! Oh by the way, I given four Platinums as gifts! I truly am spoiled. Thanks Keurig!!

Trading in my Cuisinart!!

I currently own a Cuisinart that lasted less than amonth. I have been reading the reviews on the Keurig trying to find out which is better. It seems that they are all defective...having said that, I am going to trade my Cuisinart in for a Keurig because Keurig is being responsible for the problem. Cuisinart is arrogant and unconcerned. They simply said "how great " they are and that I will just have to wait 6 weeks for a replacement, and they get "rave" reviews even though the product is defective. AND they said there is no gaurantee that I won't get another defective one even after waiting for 6 weeks. No sorry, nothing!!! I will get a Keurig, they are at least trying to accomadate the customer. Thanks Keurig, I'm sold!

The thought of getting up in the morning with no hot coffee is just uncomprehsible; yet here I sit with an empty coffee cup, yet again. We thought the first one was a fluke (stops working after about one month, have to jiggle the water container, then sometimes functions for a few more days, then completely done); we thought the second one was just weird.[...]

Love this machine!

It will be three years that I will have my Platinum machine. My husband and I love this machine. Everyone who has this coffee love it. The only problem I had was I don't use bottled water, I use filtered water. My first machine went within 5 months. Customer Service explained I should then clean it more frequently. They replaced it and since then we're good. I write down when I cleaned it last and try to do it every two months. It's a little bit of a pain, but I just do it. When we go away I want to take it with us. It's hard to drink coffee any other way.
Pros: Stylish, Accommodates All Cup Sizes, Durable, Easy to use, Multiple Settings
Cons: Tedious to clean
