Second Brewer in Two Years Has Died

This is my second brewer; this one has lasted close to a year as well. Both started to fail a few months prior to their "death" and now I'm wondering what to do when it comes to replacing this unit. While I love the simplicity of the unit, it's a pricey piece to replace every year.
Pros: Easy to use, Accommodates All Cup Sizes
Cons: Fragile
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

b70 durability is terrible

Keurig wake up. all the complaints. Fix the problem. The Mini I bought works great and has for 4 yrs. but the b 70 is terrible,(being nice).This will be my third.Yes your great at replacing the coffee maker. But the stress of not knowing if your going to wake up to coffee is getting old.Make a durable maker and you'll continue to have happy people. if it continues the word is getting around of how bad a product you make. I have a [$]coffee maker more durable.
Pros: The coffee is great, Multiple Settings, Easy to use, Stylish, Accommodates All Cup Sizes
Cons: Fragile, No durability

Not as good as the "original"

I use my Keurig for coffees, teas, cocoa...and for hot water for soup or even instant mashed potatoes. I clean and descale it--it takes a little more flushing than the instructions imply in order to not "curdle" the cream. I had received the 1st one in 2004 as a wedding gift, and replaced and upgraded it (not due to failure, but for "the newer, shinier, quieter deal") 6 years later. The Platinum has been fine--but at 16 months, it has started to have brew malfunctions: less water than selected, or no water at all. I power it on and off to "reset" it and that appears to help it recover for a while. Reading the reviews here gives me the impression that it will get worse soon.
Pros: Accommodates All Cup Sizes, Easy to use
Cons: Not durable

love the machine.........BUT

This is our second machine. The first died while under warranty. The replacement is now starting to die. It takes tow tries tyo get 12 oz. Keurig did supply this one no charge. It is less than a year old. May go back to using older noisy machine.
Pros: Multiple Settings, Stylish
Cons: Fragile
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Rec'd as a gift Christmas '09. The Platinum had quite working by Oct. 2010. Disappointing for a $250+ coffeemaker!! However... called Keurig customer service in Dec. 2010. After just a few questions & cleaning instructons, the rep was able to make the decision that the machine was DONE! Within a few days, a new machine was on our doorstep. VERY IMPRESSIVE!!!
Pros: Multiple Settings
I would recommend this to a friend!

Still working at 18 months

A lot of people seem to be having problems with the hardware. Mine has some issues, but is still working properly after 18 months. I use RO filtered water (better than bottled). Here are some issues/solutions I had: 1) small cup size - I cleaned water reservoir and used a chopstick to gently poke in the valve at the bottom that releases water. That value sometimes becomes stuck with slime. 2) louder pumping noise - cleaned with vinegar as per Keurig instructions (about every 6 months). Follow the instructions exactly (the important part is letting the brewer sit 4 hours with vinegar inside it's boiler). Other than those 2 issues, I haven't experienced any others. The solutions seem to work, and the RO water may the thing that keeps my brewer working. If you have extremely hard water, you may consider using a softener or RO filtered water from the stores. All other makes: Breville, Cuisinart and Mr. Coffee are Keurig OEM machines. I believe Keurig's own machine has better reliability than the others.

I am now on my THIRD Keurig machine. Not because I love to waste money[...]And I bought the first one a year and a half ago. Three machines in a year and a half?!?! Keurig, I hope you read your own reviews. You need to fix this machine. I gave you one star since that is the lowest you can get. But if it would have allowed, you would have gotten ZERO STARS.

Clean Water Equals Longer Machine Life

Just bought my second Keurig Platinum after 4+ years of use. Have never had to descale the machine in that time. I use RO (reverse osmosis) water, which is pre-softened (K+ salts), for all my cooking and drinking needs. Believe the low Ca++ salt environment provides for improved machine life. Have had a similar longevity with my Bunn coffee maker (7+ years) with type of water. Some of the bottled waters are spring water, which will taste good but have higher concentrations of Ca++ salts (need de-scaling more often). Had to replace the old one as a piece on the K-cup holder receptacle broke off making it hard to open and brew coffee. Wish that the machine was maintainable, so I could repair it versus having to buy a new one. The Keurig machine is a excellent supplement to my Bunn Machine. Keurig provides a quicker cup of hot beverage or hot water, but the Bunn is cost effective for larger amounts. The Keurig machine is great for entertaining as everyone is able to have the type of hot beverage at the strength that they want.
Pros: Accommodates varied taste, Fast, Convenient
Cons: Lack of maintainability
