I bought this coffee maker in December of 2010, last week it stopped working. It no longer gives me a cup of coffee, it gives me a few drops of coffee. It appears to extract the water out of the reservoir but the water does not make it to the kcup and into the coffee cup. I am very disappointed as I paid 170 dollars for this. A coffee brewer this expensive should not quit after a year. This maker was a big hit for a long time but is proving itself unreliable. Its to bad, its makes great coffee and the idea is brilliant. Perhaps if keurig would make good on our purchases they could save their name and reputation.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

The Ultimate Coffee Machine!

I have owned my Platinum for over 2 years and I am absolutely in love with it! I am on my second machine, but I was so pleased with Keurig when my first machine quit working properly, it was a week or so before the warranty expired...and they sent me a new one...with no cost to me at all! This machine has a few problems once in a while but it is still the best coffee maker ever! I think it is the Ultimate Coffee Machine! The only con to me is that it is hard to understand the directions to change settings (especially setting the off and on part) So I just leave mine on all of the time, and I use the highest setting...for one large cup in the morning. If it doesn't fill it completely, I just spin the coffee insert around and put it on the smallest setting to fill my cup. I use just bottled water in my machine....that part of building up anything is never a problem. I also wash the water container out with soap and water every once in a while to keep it fresh! I tell everyone I know how much I love my Keurig...I have purchased them for gifts for my family and friends and am a true believer in this product!
Pros: Stylish, Convenient, Accommodates All Cup Sizes, Multiple Settings
Cons: Complicated

I had the less expensive Keurig coffee maker for about 3 years. It just stopped working. I felt it was due to our hard water and when I had a filtered water system installed in our home I went out and purchased the Platinum unit. I love the Keurig concept (a fresh cup each time) and with my positive recommendations to friends they have also purchased units. However, I purchased this unit and during the first few days the plastic (cheaply designed)parts that move the K-cup forward so you can load the or remove the K-cup broke off. I was unable to fix it. Also just to make certain I would not have any hard water problems I purchased the filter system. Well, it doesn't stay in place, it just continues to float to the top. I still am using the unit manually inserting the K-cup, but I am shocked that the company would turn out such a poorly manufactured product and charge a premium price for it. I didn't register the unit (my fault) so feel that I have no recourse as to receiving a new replacement unit. It is just so disappointing. It still makes great coffee but I hope they start improving their product durability!

Cons: Fragile

Back in the day when these were being newly marketed, I was not impressed. Even the strong coffee in a small cup did not impress me. Then a friend got a Platinum model. I tried it, and could not beleive the difference. My wife got me my own for Christmas! I love it, because I don't pour 1/2 a pot of coffee down the drain, and I can pick and choose what I feel like drinking! It's great for makinghot cocoa for the kids, and tea for my wife and sister. NOTE: After having this for about a month, it appeared to be busted. My wife called for help, and it was only a clogged needle. THE ANSWER: When you pop in the K-cup, push it in hard enough to puncture the bottom. This releases the pressure and prevents a blast of grounds upwards into the upper puncture needle. It hasn't plugged up once in the 4 months I have been doing this. (This tidbit of info really helps out at altitude.)
Pros: Multiple Settings, Stylish, Accommodates All Cup Sizes, Easy to use
Cons: Finnicky

Great product

I am frugal by nature and bought the Keurig Coffee maker as a 'treat' for myself. What I just realized is that in the long run I am saving money. I don't leave half a pot of wasted coffee and I am able to regulate my caffeine intake much better. If I want to be even more economical I can use the attachment that allows me to use the coffee that I purchase in bulk. All in all, it's easy to brew with very little mess, and if you buy in bulk it's about 43 cents a day for a great cup of coffee.
Pros: Accommodates All Cup Sizes

I also have had a few issues with my brewers but Keurig has unbeatable customer service. No run around. Direct and truly these people want to find the solution for you. I have had two replacements and in saying that I have purchased four other brewers for gifts. I love this company and their products. They will get the bugs fixed and I have all the faith in them. In the meantime, I support them and applaud their customer service. I will ride the wave of the small issues the brewers have and stick it out for the long run with this company. All other companies should take a long hard look at how Keurig treats their customers, one by one with such personal service. There is not another company that comes to mind that even rates as these fine people do. Customer service @ Keurig....thank you.

I love this product. One thing about this coffee maker is that it offers 4 different cup sizes to choose from. The one problem with this is that the largest cup is about 1/2 the size of a travel mug (maybe 60% full, then you can add your creamer but I dont need that much creamer myself; more coffee) :) overall I would get this machine for anyone. great gift. people will love it. They do have a pretty large selection of coffee to choose from...I am sill waiting for Tim Hortons to get on the list! :)
