Great Brewing System While It Lasted

I was about to replace this brewer with a new one until I read the reviews online. The brewer was used for approximately 18 months and made excellent coffee until suddenly it stopped brewing. After following all the trouble shoot hints in the manual to no avail, I called customer service. Although the techs were nice, they immediately implied that the brewer had not been properly maintained. They made it sound like my problem was unique to Keurig. Long story short, the brewer was out of warranty and would not be serviced by Keurig. They offered a discount on a replacement brewer, and I decided to make a direct purchase from Keuring. Before doing so, however, I got on site and starting reading the reviews. I was shocked to see how many other folks had encountered my same problems with their Keurings - not just once but sometimes multiple times. I trusted the Keurig brand, enjoyed the guality of the coffee brewed, but cannot justify the replacement cost when historically the life span is short and they are not repairable.
Pros: Multiple Settings, Accommodates All Cup Sizes, Easy to use, Stylish
Cons: Not durable

Let Down!!!

I loved this machine from the day I got it, I even recommended it to complete strangers in the store. However I've had my machine almost one year and as many ohters have stated it has quit working. It fails to pump water, or brew the right cup size, turns off on it's own and other times just brews the whole tank and floods my kitchen. I have 3 other family members who all purchased machines around the same time from the same retailer and they have all had the same problems. I called customer service and was not impressed. They told me to check the needles for clogs, told me I needed to descale it every month even though I ALWAYS use bottled water, and when I asked why the descale indicator light has never come on they said "don't wait for that just do it every month." I was then told that the problem was caused by the coffee pods having air in them. So they told me if the pod is "puffy" on top I need to place it in the machine and push down on it first before closing the lid to puncture the pod and release the air. I then asked the customer service rep if he owned one of these machines and he said no...I said then you don't know that by doing this the lid will close on my finger and the top needle will puncture my hand...not sure Keurig wants to tell customers to do that. At that point I told him I didn't appreciate him making this my problem, there is clearly an issue with the machine. He finally said they would send me a new one. Not to hopeful after reading the other reviews that this one will be any better. My parents are on thier 3rd one. Bottom line WAKE UP KEURIG!!!QUIT PUTTING THE BLAME ON YOUR CUSTOMERS AND MAKE A BETTER MACHINE!!!

This machine is great! When I first got it, I used it right away. After a few days I experienced some inconsistencies between cycles. It seemed to get stuck between the water pump and heating element. Then, after a few minutes it reprocessed it self. The key, is to turn it off after use and then when you want to use it again, turn it back on and let it reset it self to the ready mode. If you keep it on all the time the water will cool down and the machine may get confused with the internal thermostat. TURN IT OFF WHEN YOUR DONE USING IT, and it will operate accurately most every time.
Pros: Easy and quick
Cons: Requires use of brain

We purchased our brewer last year and have used it daily since that time. It's worked flawlessly and brewed a better than average cup of coffee very quickly since then. It also works very well to make hot coco and provide 190 degree water for our French Press when we feel the urge to be coffee snobs.Being an instruction and product manual geek, I even descaled the machine once every few months, to keep the water flowing and tasting good. Our Platinum brewer just turned one year old over the weekend. To celebrate, it died… The motor that sends the water through the filter was no longer able to properly pressurize the water. It took about four minutes to push 12oz of water out, without a K cup inserted. I looked online over the weekend to find trouble shooting ideas, anyplace that could be plugged was poked with a paperclip and even a last resort decaling was done, no success. No replacement parts are available online, only one option left…On Monday I broke down and called Keurig customer service, after a couple of prompts was places on hold, for all of three minutes. Spoke to a helpfully voice who directed me to the in house support line, no on hold this time. Again I was greeted by a friendly voice who advised me he was going to have me perform a few procedures on the machine, ended up being the same ones I'd tried over the weekend, same results, plus he could hear the machine on my speaker phone. After a total of less than 10 minutes on the phone he advised me the machine was faulty. This is the point where I expected to be informed how to package and ship off my machine and maybe see it again sometime in January, or too bad, so sad, due to the fact that these machine are not meant to be repaired, you'll have to purchase a brand new machine.Instead, the friendly voice asked for MY information and address, confused I complied and provided the information, I then asked what address I was to the machine to. At this point I was taken aback, the friendly voice on the other end of the phone advised me, I was being sent a brand new machine, [...]Amazed was an understatement, in this age of disposable appliances this was totally unexpected. So I'd just like to say thank you to Keurig for standing behind the items they are selling. I would recommend to all who read this.

Bought the first one in July 2010 and LOVED IT!!! but it only lasted 5 months. It would not brew the first cup & then the motor continued to run after brewing the second cup. We wasted many k-cups in the process. Descaled & still no better. Returned the brewer to the retailer & swapped it for a new one on 12/11/10 & returned that one the next day because that one also only brewed a partial cup & was pouring water back into the reserve tank. This is our third & last Platinum, should it not work properly. P.S. the box says Platinum & the brewer says K-70 & does not have the iced coffee icon on it like our previous Platinum brewer did. I don't think we have a true Platinum brewer.
Pros: Easy to use, Accommodates All Cup Sizes
Cons: Fragile

Great coffee maker!

As a student who doesn't have much time in the morning, it's great to be able to press a button and have a fresh cup of coffee. Also, this product is great because it can make coffee in small batches instead of a whole pot. I wish K-Cups were more widely available, the grocery stores in my area seem to only carry a couple of varieties, but overall, I love my Keurig!
Pros: Stylish, Multiple Settings, Easy to use, Quick

Problems after Hot Chocolate...

Sometimes it takes 3 attempts to get any liquid to come out of my machine. I got it for Christmas last year so it's only 1 year old and this seems to have started when I introduced the hot chocolate to it. I did exactly as manual said but still have problems. I do not care for the iced teas (which is why we purchased this model). Should have sent it back for another but now I'm stuck...
Pros: Easy to use, Accommodates All Cup Sizes, Multiple Settings, Durable, Stylish
Cons: Defective

Disappointed - Brewer #3 on the way!

I received my first Keurig as a gift many years ago. It lasted quite a long time. About 18 months ago I finally had to replace it and purchased the Platinum brewer. This one started to give me problems almost immediately. Keurig was kind enough to replace it but now, 8 months later, I'm back at the beginning needing a replacement again. I take GREAT care of my coffee machine, following all of the rules, avoiding the hot cocoa cups (which I shouldn't have to since those cups are for the machine, right?), even avoiding using the My K-Cup reusable filter. I'll accept a replacement but I'm worried about how long it will last this time. Oh and I'm being told that I should descale every two months. REALLY? I'm thinking that the drive-thru is starting to sound like a better option again. Bummer. Come on Keurig. I'm not the only one who has had this issue. Maybe you can do a little quality control??
Pros: Accommodates many tastes, Easy to use, Multiple Settings
Cons: Short cup issue, Quick to break, HARD TO CLEAN, Doesn't last long
