The Price of Convenience. Not Worth it.

The concept of a single cup system is likely to appeal most to households with one or two coffee drinkers. If you have four cups to make every morning, it can be a pain having to make them all in sequence as well as more costly than traditional systems. K cups (the individual coffee cups) can certainly be convenient, but they come at a price when compared to traditional coffee systems. The New York Times did the math. K cups work out around $50 a pound of coffee compared to about half that for a high end bag of beans or grounded coffee. You can decide if the "convenience" is worth twice the price. I have owned two of these Keurig coffee makers, both have stopped working within two years, making coffee a very expensive habit in my house. I feel let down by Keurig. When my first machine failed, I put it down to experience. When my second failed, I put it down to a product issue. I wrote to Keurig customer services expressing my disappointment. I got an email back asking me to call another department. They simply didn't care. I went back to a traditional coffee system. It was half the price of this Keurig, looks more stylish and it has the benefit of being able to set a timer (unlike the Keurig). I love my coffee. I don't love it enough to replace a Keurig which is twice the price of a traditional system every two years as well as pay twice as much for each cup of coffee. Also, since going back to a traditional system, I enjoy waking up to four cups of freshly brewed coffee without having to stand there making them one K cup at a time. I would definitely not recommend this coffee maker. In fact, I strongly recommend against it. Your call....
Pros: Stylish, Accommodates All Cup Sizes, Easy to use
Cons: Pricey / Poor Value, Fragile, Unreliable
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

2nd brewer not working
on February 16, 2014

This is my second brewer. With my first, I had prime issues within two months. Keurig sent a replacement brewer and within TWO WEEKS, I had a prime sign, removed water reservoir, reattached it per the manual, put in coffee and pushed brew when directed and no coffee came out. Watied several minutes and nothing. The water was not pumping up from the reservoir to the Kcup to start the brewing process. I contacted Keurig again and they offered a 3rd machine which I declined and they are sending Fed Ex out to pick the 2nd one up. While the first one, had prime issues, I could unplug it and plug it back in and it would work. Thinking of scrapping the whole Keurig concept and getting a refund at the store of purchase for the first machine. This is a good idea in theory, but in practice it is not working well. They are not making quality machines IMHO. They KNOW this; the internet is filled with negative reviews, but they are not addressing it. They try to make it seem as if it is a sediment/water issue but real issue seems to be the computerized mechanism of the brewer itself, IMHO. It is flawed. I know people who have older brewers (2years or more) who have never had an issue -that was what convinced me to buy it in the first place. But the newer ones seem to be poorly made. Instead of coming out with newer types of brewers, Keurig needs to perfect the original models first. I sense that the profit for them is in the Kcups not the brewers because when you get a replacement, they only thing they ask you to send back is the kcup holder part- they don't even want the whole machine back, which is an indication of its value IMHO. Since I cannot even seem to get through 3 months of usage without problems, I cannot recommend anyone purchase this brewer. Keurig offered to send me a different model of brewer butI have read similar reviews about other models. I am not inclined to keep trying out different brewers.
Pros: Easy to use
Cons: Pricey / Poor Value

Makes for a wonderful day straight out of bed to my Keurig machine. Great for coffee throughout the day to entertain or even during work. Great for tea, hot cocoa or any hot or iced brewed beverage you desire. Can't remember what it was like before having my Platinum Brewer. Great for when family is visiting= different blends for each!
Pros: Fast, Durable, Stylish, Accommodates All Cup Sizes, Multiple Settings, Easy to use

I ordered ours from one of those late-night home shopping extravaganza's. I've known Keurig long before I placed that order since we have them at my office. Mine came in a special edition RED so it's a thing of beauty on my kitchen counter. It is best to use filtered water or tap and use the Keurig filters. The manual specifically says not to use bottled/distilled water. If you have "soft water" you would definitely need the Keurig filters to prevent your machine from "PRIME"-ing. My brother-in-law has soft water and had the PRIME issue and then I told him to buy the filters and he now enjoys his machine like I do. I am not an expert nor can guarantee that it will fix everyone else's "PRIME" issues but it sure fixed my brother-in-law's machine. I love this machine and bought a Capresso (TM) frother to go with my coffee brewing and the two are a perfect pair. I hope to enjoy many more cups of joe with my Keurig... fingers crossed.
Pros: Easy to use, Stylish, Durable, Multiple Settings, Fast

Not Hot Enough
on February 13, 2014

I am very disappointed with the temperature settings. When I make tea the max temp of 192 degrees is not hot enough. I test it and when the tea finish brewing, it only last for a second before the temperature starts to go down. Best to use the old fashion way A KETTLE. Keurig serves its purpose for coffee. Not for tea or hot chocolate.
Pros: Accommodates All Cup Sizes, Stylish, Multiple Settings, Fast
Cons: Complicated, Pricey / Poor Value, Noisy, Not hot enough

Keurig B70 priming issues
on February 13, 2014

Great product for a cup of any beverage you choose, toss a tea bag, spoon of hot chocolate, etc. in a cup hit brew and bingo there it is. Had it for about 1 1/2 years. had priming issues initially, but those issues completely stopped when I unscrewed,(removed,)the screen at the bottom of the reservoir tank. I told customer service that the screen was too fine. But I see they haven't done anything to address this issue yet. I use it every day. Again, no priming issues with the screen removed. The only 1 complaint and I see it was mentioned earlier is that for a good cup of coffee the water should heat up to 200 degrees mot 192. This machine won't do it.
Pros: Use Your Own Tea Bag Etc, Easy to use, Fast, Accommodates All Cup Sizes, Multiple Settings

Not worth the investment

I have purchased four of this model in the past 12 months. They have all failed in less than 5 months. There seems to be a problem with the internal pump. Water is not the issue - I only used bottled - filtered water. Very expensive addition to your kitchen given the short life of this product.
Pros: Fast, Stylish, Accommodates All Cup Sizes
