The coffee maker was a disappointment. It failed to work properly by not pumping water and then the display program failed for choosing cup sizes. For the price i would expect it to last much longer for occasional use.
Pros: Easy to use, Looks nice
Cons: Water pump failed, HARD TO CLEAN, Only one cup size worked
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

3rd machine in less than a year

This is my 3rd Platinum machine in less than 1 year. My household only drinks about 3-4 cups a day, yet the pump seems to break in about 3 months of use. I'm hoping that my third machine will be able to last for a couple of years. If not, I'm buying the Cuisinart, I've heard from the salesperson at K_hl's that they never get them returned for defects. By the way, buy your coffee machines at K_hl's, they have a no question, no receipt return policy! If I had to send my machine back to Keurig and buy another to wait for them to exchange or fix the defected one, I wouldn't bother owning this machine...which I may not anyway, in 3 months!
Pros: Easy to use, Fast
Cons: Fragile, Pricey / Poor Value, Pump breaks not durable

Failing to Deliver (coffee)

The first machine I got after 2 months the indicator 'Prime' would come up after each brew. You had to take the water container off to reset it. Called company they replaced it - great! Now 2 months later the same thing is happening!! Getting to difficult to make a cup of coffee!
Pros: Convenient, Multiple Settings, Easy to use
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

The Platinum Brewing System is designed and UL approved for household use. Keurig recommends customers use Keurig brewers consistent with their intended use.

My husband and I use our Keurig every day. We each have at least one cup apeice, sometimes more. We got it as a gift in December of 2009 and in December of 2011 it started not responding when we pressed Brew, brewing partial cups, and telling us it needed to be descaled when I had just put gallons of vinegar through it. I called customer service and explained my problem. Even though the warranty had been expired for a year Keurig replaced my brewer (which had been discontinued) free of charge with the comparable model, the Platinum. It should be coming tomorrow and we are already so happy!
Pros: Multiple Settings, Easy to use, Stylish, Fast

I have a platinum in my home, a personal one in my office at work, and another small one in our travel trailer. Guests LOVE that they can make a single cup of whatever they want. I like that there's practically no cleanup. Wouldn't trade them for anything else!

Great, but trouble down the road.

I absolutely loved the Patinum Keurig. I used it daily and it made great coffee. However, I have had some of the same problems others have mentioned. I used the vinegar for descaling and also called customer service and cleaned the needles as instructed. Nothing I did could get my Keurig to work correctly. It would sometimes put out about an ounce of water and sometimes a cup or two. It was completely random in it's delivery. After trying for 2 days to get it to work, I finally gave up. For the price of the Keurig, it should last much longer!!!! I think something is going wrong in the programing / elctronics part. Too bad, because it is a great item. However, the customer service is giving us another Keurig for a prorated price since it was out of warranty. Glad I called them for that at least. I just hope this one will last a few years.
Pros: Accommodates All Cup Sizes, Durable, Stylish, Easy to use, Multiple Settings, Fast
Cons: Lasted Only 21 Months, Pricey / Poor Value

Enjoying coffee more than ever. I hesitated getting this unit because I thought the water container was too large. I am glad I did not buy a smaller unit. I drink only a couple cups of coffee a day but use this for tea and an occasional hot cocoa. This size is perfect for my wife and I.
