Brews Excellent Coffee but its Flawed

Purchased my unit after Chritmas 2009 to upgrade from a one cup unit our daughter purchased us for Christmas. Unfortunately Kurig updated this model to silence customer complaints concerning an apparent water pump noise (read this history from internet research on this unit). Unfortunately, in doing so, another more serious problem resulted. The first cup always brews with no problem, its the suceeding cups that won't brew. Thsi is caused by a check valve in the system sticking shut. Apparently, the steam pressure of the first brew pushing through the coffee grinds presses the check valve shut (this doesn't happen with hot chocolate or tea, as they aren't tightly packed like coffee). So after the first cup is brewed, the machine goes into a recharge cycle, and unfortunately the pump that refills the heating chamber cannot open the check valve and the unit's protective circuitry shuts it off. The only rework that works to correct this for the second brew is to move the water storage tank up and down to literally manually push water through the check valve to open it. The pump can then get water and the brew cycle completes properly. Kurig is a great company and they have honored there warranty to anyone that has reported a problem, including myself. I'm waiting for a replacement model with the upgrade fast pump speed program. In the mean time they gave me two internet coupons for free boxes of K-cups for the coffee, tea, etc. of my choice. In the mean time I enjoy my coffee and thump the water tank up and down which keeps the machine going :) The only thing I would recommend to Keurig (as I'm an engineer), is to test, test, test, before you ship your latest upgrade to the consumer....learn from your msitakes.
Pros: Easy to use, Accommodates All Cup Sizes, Stylish, Multiple Settings
Cons: Design upgrade is flawed

Love the unit with the exception this is the second one that I have had to return in the last year. The first one the pump stopped working and the second one started leaking from the bottom. It seems that it should last longer than it does.
Pros: Stylish, Easy to use, Multiple Settings, Accommodates All Cup Sizes
Cons: Not durable

That's it. I Quit.

My fourth B70 brewer in 3 years just died about 5 months after the warranty expired. I purchased my first machine in March 2008 and it lasted about 6 months. Machine #2 was a replacement by Keurig for #1 but malfunctioned first thing out of the box. Keurig replaced #2 machine with number #3 machine. #3's pump died one week after the warranty expired and Keurig somewhat reluctantly sent machine #4 as a replacement. #4 brewer lasted the "longest," from 12/09 until 5/11. I used reverse osmosis or distilled water in all the machines, descaled them monthly, but the pumps just DO NOT LAST. For the price of these machines, I expect them to last more than 6-15 months. At this point, I am giving up on Keurig and buying a Bunn. While the machines last, they do make very nice coffee and it's great to have freshly brewed coffee in less than a minute. I used mine multiple times a day and it was also very handy for dispensing hot water for cooking tasks such as soaking dried mushrooms, making a small amount of broth, etc. I loved my machines when they were working, but their consistent failure rate is unacceptable. I'll cut open my remaining K-cups and use the coffee in our old drip machine until they are gone and then will switch to the pods. Sorry Keurig, but you've lost a long-time customer.
Pros: Accommodates All Cup Sizes, Easy to use, Stylish, Multiple Settings
Cons: Unreliable, Can't be repaired, Consistent pump problems

Eat my words !!!!

I pride myself on my character. I call it as I see it. I would be a hypocrite if I didn't admit I have to eat my words from a previous post. I recently posted a scathing review on My B70 Platinum brewer. It made the best cup of coffee I ever tasted. It had the simplest set-up of any brewer I have ever owned. It made for the cleanest coffee station ever and the ease of operation was a snap. Alas the warranty ended on Dec. 18th 2010 and the brewer failed on Dec. 21st. I was extremely upset. I loved this brewer like it was kin, but it was too expensive to be a disposable product and I was not a happy camper. After venting here I sent an email to customer support voicing my displeasure. You can imagine my surprise when they returned my email instructing me to call customer support. I called and an extremely polite Customer Service representative walked me through a few simple steps. !!!Low and behold!!! It still didn't work. Well I thought, (THIS BITES THE BIG ONE). You could have knocked me over with a feather when the Rep. on the other end said they were going to send me a new B70 even though it was out of warranty. I got to tell ya that's integrity with a capital T. Keurig, You ROCK!!!!
Pros: Fast, Accommodates All Cup Sizes, Stylish, Multiple Settings, Easy to use

Check YouTube for cleaning tips folks!

You will not find a better cup of coffee than what is brewed from a Keurig, hands down! Before people give up on this machine, they really need to do some investigation on cleaning tips. Everyone that I've found has been golden and made the machine like new. Does the machine require more maintenance than a normal coffee maker? Oh yeah, A LOT MORE! I've accepted the fact that every three months, I have to take a few hours of the day and perform the mass cleaning of the brewer. But in my opinion, its well worth it!!!
Pros: Accommodates All Cup Sizes, Fast, Stylish, Easy to use, Multiple Settings
Cons: HARD TO CLEAN

Not happy with this model

Not at all happy with this particular model.I purchased this from Keurig directly on January 12th 2010.It failed within the first few weeks of use (it would not pump water) and was replaced by Keurig 1/29/2010.The 2nd brewer failed in April of 2010 (again not pumping water) and was again replaced by Keurig. Now my 3rd Platinum brewer was failed, with the same symptoms[...].I LOVE the coffee and love it when it works but I am very fed up with the platinum brewer.3 failed machines in 6 months is ridiculous!
Pros: Accommodates All Cup Sizes, Easy to use
Cons: Fragile

Keurig Platinum Empirical Question

My wife and I drink between 8 and ten cups a day and I certainly take great pains to perform maintenance . This would include cleaning with Vinegar and using not only Keurig charcoal filters and using simultaneously Brita filtered water. Based on that the first machine lasted about 8 months and the second machine started making very loud noise when brewing and because I was in a hurry to obtain another in each case I took advantage of the liberal return policy of my favorite retailer. Green Mountain should make this much more durable since there is much profit in selling pods. Computer printer companies their printers durable so they can sell you the ink. In all fairness I hope that the Model K75 Platinum is better that its predecessors because I really want this to succeed. The entire concept is great. Guidance is needed here--is 8 to 10 cups per day too much for this machine to handle--I would have gone the extra distance to truly obtain a machine that is extremely durable.
Pros: Easy to use, Fast, Stylish, Accommodates All Cup Sizes
Cons: Noisy, HARD TO CLEAN
