2.5 yrs and working great

I've had my Platinum Brewer for 2.5 years (June 2012) and it's STILL working fine. I get a little annoyed when I see the posts saying that you only get a small cup now, or there's a build up. I clean mine thoroughly, beyond instructions, every 4-6 months. I run the vinegar through it twice, not just 1 tank per instructions. I also wash out the tank every month or so, and clean the removable base, and the head pin with the end of a paperclip. If it gets clogged with grinds, which it does if I've left a k-cup in it for a day or two (i believe that the grinds dry out and consequently dry out inside the nozzle, clogging it), I run hot water only through it several times to clear it. If water won't run through it, which also sometimes happens, I give it a good bang on the top (sorry Keurig, it's necessary!) to get the water flowing again...it's usually when I've left a k-cup inside. Other than this, it's worked great and given me a fab cup of coffee (or 2 or 3) every day for the past 2.5 years. My inlaws' machine stopped working, doing something weird. We cleaned it (including the tank) left it unplugged for 24 hours, switched it on again and it's been great ever since. NOTE: You CANNOT use chilled water in it - it will ruin the machine (luckily, it hadn't totally ruined theirs). YES, this should be in the instructions (maybe it is now), I was told by Keurig when the inlaws' machine stopped working - they were using filtered water from the refrigerator - NOT a good idea! If you have to use that water (it should ALWAYS be filtered to stop the build up), leave to warm up, or add some hot water to take the chill off. This is a great product if you treat it correctly.
Cons: Needs Maintenance

I have been a Keurig user for over six years. My original Keurig is still working fine but I thought I would like a newer model. I purchased my coffeemaker on October 15, 2012 and am having problems with it already. For the past three days it would blink and say "prime." After priming (cleaning the needle) it would work again for 2 cups of coffee and then I would get the same message. I am very disappointed in the new product and will be returning it. I may try again but with the bad reviews I don't know if it is worth another try.
Pros: Multiple Settings, Fast, Stylish

Planned Obsolescence

My Keurig was wonderful when it worked! It only worked for 13 months which means my warrenty is out and nothing can be done to fix my brewer. Please read the following. Planned obsolescence or built-in obsolescence[1] in industrial design is a policy of planning or designing a product with a limited useful life, so it will become obsolete, that is, unfashionable or no longer functional after a certain period of time.[1] Planned obsolescence has potential benefits for a producer because to obtain continuing use of the product the consumer is under pressure to purchase again, whether from the same manufacturer (a replacement part or a newer model), or from a competitor which might also rely on planned obsolescence.[1] For an industry, planned obsolescence stimulates demand by encouraging purchasers to buy sooner if they still want a functioning product. Built-in obsolescence is used in many different products. There is, however, the potential backlash of consumers who learn that the manufacturer invested money to make the product obsolete faster; such consumers might turn to a producer (if any exists) that offers a more durable alternative. Estimates of planned obsolescence can influence a company's decisions about product engineering. Therefore, the company can use the least expensive components that satisfy product lifetime projections. Such decisions are part of a broader discipline known as value engineering.
Pros: Waste Of Money, Poor Customer Service

This is my second Keurig brewer. The first was the Elite which is nice for the now and then coffee drinker. But when I found the Platinum on sale at a retailer and was able to use a store coupon in addition to the sale price, I jumped at the chance to have more features.I find it has been a great product for the price I paid! I really like the auto on and off with specific times and the brew temp with default cup size of my choosing. I have had this one for over 3 years and find it to be durable. The cup chamber can be a little difficult to clean but that would not deter me from recommending it to others. I also use it to brew tea by simply plopping the tea bag into the cup chamber rather than using a pre-packaged tea cup. It brews and steeps the tea excellently, for my consumption at least! My Platinum is not noisy as compared to my Elite model, and I feel its very quiet when in use. I have added the Keurig filter in the reservoir which, in my opinion, I believe also helps to diminish deposit build up. I would highly recommend this product to other consumers who are contemplating such a brewer.
Pros: Durable, Brews Tea Bags, Multiple Settings, Stylish, Accommodates All Cup Sizes, Easy to use, Fast
Cons: HARD TO CLEAN

Standing behind your product

I received our Platinum Series brewer a year ago this Christmas. It has been a pleasure utilizing it on a daily basis due to it's quick and easy brewing. However, this morning I turned it on, inserted my K-Cup, pressed the brew button and nothing came out. None of the cleaning recommendations corrected the problem so I called Keurig customer service and explained what was happening. The representative is sending me a new brewer in 7 days. I am elated that they stood behind their product with no hassle. I will continue to do business with Keurig and continue to buy my K-Cups online. They are truely a great company with a great product.
Pros: Durable, Great Customer Service, Accommodates All Cup Sizes, Fast, Easy to use
Cons: None That Come To Mind

I love my Keurig coffemaker, and will never go back to a regular coffee pot again. The reason I gave this 4 stars though is that after a little over a year my brewer conked out on me. However...I called Keurig this morning and went over all the troubleshooting issues with the customer service rep, and..even though I was out of warranty, they are sending me a new brewer! I was very impressed with that, because I thought since my warranty had expired I'd be out of luck, but the rep couldn't have been nicer, and my new brewer will be on its way! I love the coffee selections available, and love the ease of use and having a fresh cup every time! I can't say enough about how the company stands by its products! Thank you Keurig!
Pros: Multiple Settings, Fast, Easy to use, Accommodates All Cup Sizes
