Convenient, need to extend brewer life

We're on our third Platinum brewer. First brewer gave up after about 7 monhts; Keurig replaced under warranty. Replacement brewer had problems from day one - flow was slow - we were descaling it every 4 weeks (pain in the tush!). After nearly a year of the descaling madness, Keurig finally acknowledged that problem may be the brewer and replaced the unit. So, we're on #3 and hope it lasts longer than the previous two. We use only filtered water and are diligent about descaling. We truly enjoy the product - the only issue is that the life expectancy of the machine is way too short. A big plus is that Keurig honors their warranty.
Pros: Fast, Easy to use, Convenient, Honors Warranty, Multiple Settings, Accommodates All Cup Sizes
Cons: Descaling Takes Too Long, Life Expentance Of Brewer

Only lasts 2 years

I have loved my Keuring. Very pricey machine and so is the coffee, but I felt I was worth it. Now my pot died after only 2 years! Not acceptable!
Pros: Multiple Settings, Great Coffee Every Time, Fast, Stylish, Easy to use, Accommodates All Cup Sizes
Cons: Pricey For Only 2 Yr Use, Very Pricey For 2 Yr Life, Pricey / Poor Value

Not Happy with this so far!

I have had this product for less than 2 months. It worked fine for about 3 weeks. Then I started a getting the word Prime on the digital display. When that comes up, the brewer will not work. The manual and online instructions tell you to empty the water reservoir, clean the needle in the K cup holder and descale it. Each time I followed the directions, it would be fine for a week and than the Prime sign would appear again. After happening three weeks in a row, I contacted Keurig and they are sending out another brewer. So for me the jury is still out on this brewer. My friends who have Keurigs have no issues. But in researching this problem, I noticed complaints dating back 8 years ago regarding the Prime issue. Why haven't they addressed it in all this time? Per Keurig, it is normal for this to appear from time to time and could mean the filter is clogged with sediment but it should not be a common occurrence. Also, I have used nothing but filtered water in it. I am awaiting a new brewer to see if the problems continues. But the fact that is has occurred so soon after purchase makes me very leery of recommending this brewer to someone else. The single brew concept is great and I was initially very excited about this brewer. However, if you have too many problems with it, it is not worth it. These machines and K-Cups are NOT cheap. I expect the quality to be commiserate with the price. Otherwise you could just buy a regular inexpensive coffee maker and call it a day.

I make coffee and hot chocolate in it. Clean it regularly with vinegar even if it doesn't need it. I use distilled drinking water. After I descaled it 2 weeks later it would not work. Told me it needed descaling. Tried doing it for 2 days going on 3. went through 2 gallons of vinegar so far. Still doesn't work. Guess I'll buy another one. Makes good coffee.

Prime Issue

I read the "prime issues" comments and felt I had to write. I've had several Keurig brewers in the past years and I'm hooked. A few years ago, my Keurig was replaced with a new one (because I didn't clean mine properly). The new one had a "prime issue". I had been without my brewer for a while and did not want to send this one back and be without again. What I found was that, for some reason, the area where the water reservoir sits did not seal properly. I would take the reservoir out, then replace it and it would work. I did this often for a week or so (very irritating) and then one day it started working. I had it for years without any problem. I hope this helps someone.

Found the secret

I make two cups every morning. I use French Roast K-Cups and the combination is perfect. Very easy to use and cleaning isn't as much of a pain as I thought it would be. All that said.......my first unit lasted 6 months until it just quit on me. I got another one and after about 6 months it quit on me as well. The second time around I diligently used the filter kit and de-scaled every 2 months and it still died. But I stuck with it and found the secret. While de-scaling it (1/4 cup at a time (are you kidding me)), I said to heck with it and left it to sit for a couple of days with the vinegar in it. And then out of curiosity I tried one last time and it worked. If you live in an area with high mineral content in the water (even if you use the filter), this system will bog down. If you leave the vinegar in it for more than a day when de-scaling it will un-clog. And that my friends is the secret.............Now, all of that said, why wouldn't Keurig make a more robust system? Hopefully, their engineers are working on that right now.............

Hi I bought this brewer a little bit after the model came out. We loved it. We fell on some hard times and did not use it for a little while, buying the cups was a luxury. I just starting using it again daily in July 2013 everything was going fine until now May 2014. The Kuerig heats up but the water does not come out. I replaced the filer that I had purchased seperately and still it will not dispence water. For the 2 1/2 years or so I owned it I probably use it for half that time and the thing does not work. When it did work it was great but these machines are not cheap if they were I would expect it not to last. For the amount of money you pay for these machines they should last longer than a Mr Coffee machine does. Very dissapointed that I paid good money for the machine and it no longer works. :(

I love my Keurig Platinum brewer! I really want to brag on Keurig customer service though. I use a lot of websites for ordering things and Keurig is at the top of my list for customer service! I have had to call them on 2 separate occasions and they did everything possible to help me and make sure I was happy. I can't count how many companies act like they don't care when you have issues like the item breaking or not working properly, etc... But Keurig definitely cares about their customers and are extremely fair. This is the first time I have ever reviewed ANY place on customer service, but I just can't say enough about them. Thank you so much Keurig!
