Handle Melted Off

Bought the oven under a month ago and used a few times. The handle melted off from the top where the metal connects the screws to the plastic handle.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

OK oven, worked fine for years, died rather badly.

I had a white TRO420 for over five years, and liked it. It was used once a day, on average, to make toast, bagels, or whatever breakfast was that day. It worked fine and the ergonomics were OK, except that the knobs were a bit too smooth and slippery, so you had to grip them pretty firmly in order to get them to turn. A pretty minor quibble, for sure.
A word of caution: Unfortunately recently mine started smoking and giving off an acrid odor, badly enough that I knew it was toast (no pun intended). I pulled the plug and removed it from service. I'm glad I did so, as the mechanical timer was obviously failing, and would eventually have likely started to a fire. As you can see from the photo, the heat shrink tubing on the timer's black lead was melted, and well on its way to entirely vaporized. Also the bell is discolored (apparently from heat). Let that serve as a notice, you should never let ANY small kitchen appliance run unattended. This applies regardless of the manufacturer.
In the end I would still recommend this product, but with the advice only to operate it while attended.
I would recommend this to a friend!
