Fire Hazard do not buy

Have had for 2 months and it keeps making a clicking noise even when not turned on. today, it would not power on and when I unplugged it, the outlet had turned black. I do believe this was a fire hazard. Terrible product.

Dangerous and a burn hazard

This kettle is a hazard. When you pour out the water it comes out the lid as well. Someone is going to get scalded. Especially dangerous when only half full which is often the case for one or two people. Looks good on paper but the designer didn't test it properly. It should be re-called!!!!

not a good product

I found this product to be dangerous and a scald hazard. When it is half full, when pouring into a cup, the boiled water comes out the lid and splashes all over. The spout should be on a level with the lid to prevent this. It looks good on paper but not practical. I would like to see the testing of this product be done again.

No auto shut off

Bought this last month and plan to return it shortly. Auto shut off does not always work. You must keep an eye on it. We have it in a small pantry and if we forget to check, the pantry becomes a sauna. The device boils continuously. Believe this is a safety hazard.

Rusty Kettle
on December 29, 2014

I agree with previous reviews, this kettle should not be called stainless steel when the inside is rusting.
I was shocked to check the inside of the kettle and see the rust, how long have I been drinking water from this kettle before seeing it was rusty......... very upsetting

Fell apart in 9 months

After about 6 months of regular use, things started falling apart. The handle came loose from the body of the kettle, then the top wouldn't open, then the top actually fell off while pouring, and then the auto-shutoff stopped shutting off, which is when I decided it was too dangerous to keep using. It boiled water effectively while it lasted, but this is a ridiculously short lifespan for an appliance, and the failure of the auto-shutoff is actually pretty dangerous.

Good for four years but now leaking

We have enjoyed this kettle for four years with no problems at all but it just started to leak at the base. Sad. I still have the booklet and receipt but I see there is only a two year warranty so I guess we are stuck. Can you help Black and Decker?
