my B & D stainless steel kettle leaks water from the bottom of the hanadle onto the base of the unit which causes me concern. I usually buy B & D products but will have second thoughts now.

I just put this kettle to the garbage after barely 2 years of very moderate use (5-6 times a week on average) First, it leaked, then the flimsy on/off switch broke. It is still made the very same way. Avoid.

I have had mine for a few years and have had no problems with it. It heats a full pot in a short period of time. The ability to pick it up without a cord attached is great. A person broke the on switch, so it is hard to start, but I have used it for more than 3 years with no problems.

Spent good money on this kettle thinking it would last and the button won't stay down as well as discoloration inside.

Like the features but off switch & lid malfunction

I bought this kettle 20 months ago, very pleased with it first year: Speed of heating heat resistant handle, fairly small footprint of the base and the thumb triggered lid opener. Then the lid gradually refused to stay closed, even when pushed down, so steam escapes at top. In last two months, it no longer switchs off if picked up when still heating. Is the switch wearing out ? If I forget to manually turn it off will it boil dry and be a fire hazard?

Power switch malfunction

This kettle boils water quickly - which is great. However, because of a flaw in the power switch, I'm unable to turn this device on and off. Since there is no way to fix the switch in house, I'm stuck having to buy a new kettle, which is wasteful. I recommend purchasing a product with better quality parts so you don't end up with a broken appliance taking up your counter space.
