WOW, This camera has everything I ever wanted in a camera. It is priced right and a lot better than point and shoot.

The GO TO GUY!!!!

This is truly a "goto" camera. The fact that it outputs its video via HDMI, makes for portability, ease of use and instant viewing after the shot. I have used this for multiple video events and shared upon completion of the event. It is a hit, and i bet a few more cameras were sold right after I did this. The picture quality rivals SLR quality, without the price.
Pros: good battery life, Good Low-Light Performance, Nice features/settings, excellent image quality, durable, Bright LCD, Lightweight/Portable, Simple controls/menu, easy to use, hd video!!!

Solid point and shoot

Been using it for 5 years as primary and back up to my DSLR. Always dependable and very easy to travel with. Great color and detail in the photos. Could be faster writing to SD card (I use class 10 SanDisk extreme cards).

I purchased this camera to replace my Canon SX120IS. Wanted something that would work better with doing things & going places with grandchildren.
I LOVE the variable angle LCD screen. That was one of the major reasons I went with this camera, it was something I really wanted in a camear.
The first DAY I used the camera the pix looked really good. BUT when I used the camera at night, the flash don't work right.
I could stand in one spot and take pix over and over of same thing, I MIGHT get the flash to work 1 out of every 10-15 shots. You CANNOT get young children to stand still for 5 minutes or more, just trying to get the flash to work to take a pic.
When a child is doing something special or has a special expression, or an amazing moment and the flash doesn't work, you can't take the pic over again, it's lost forever.
I did return the camera to place of purchase.
I can't take a chance on a camera and have it not work right when. I feel the cost of the camera is to much of a risk. :-(

Very disappointed that I didn't pay attention. Canon has returned to the Lithium battery, expensive, out-of-stock, quality??? I'v had bad experiences with them with my Power Shot Pro 90 IS.
The features here are great... nothing else compares to what Canon offers. I just hope the thing works.

I have the Canon ELPH 300 HS as a point and shoot and the Canon Rebel T3i. Could not resist buying the SX40 as a "Bridge Camera". Love the 35X zoom although somewhat slow. I have always owned Canon cameras and they have never let me down. I always get great pictures. Keep up the great work Canon.
Pros: 35x zoom, great picture quality, canon quality product
Cons: slow focus while zooming

I have always like using a Canon camera because its easy to manage, settings are very easy to follow, has excellent image quality, and th durable that it carries. I would recommend a Canon Camera.

not so exited anymore

almost half of my photos came as a blur, may be I am not using right settings, but I missed already so many fun photos because of that. I had Power Shot S80 for 8 years, and never had a blur photos at all, I loved it so much, but this camera some times irritates me, I don't think I can send it back, my 30 days expired today :( I think. ... If I could exchange it, I would go for Rebel now defiantly.
Pros: good battery life
Cons: Poor image quality
