Can't Give a Good Review

I'd like to review this product but it does not come with a manual and the "getting Started" guide does just that...gets you started. It does not explain a 10th of the settings and controls/functions on the camera. I am no camera pro, and I can't figure half this stuff out. I think I'll love the camera once I learn how to use it properly.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

New features

Really enjoy the new features of the Powershot SX 40 HS. Great lens that is wide angle and telephoto with macro all in one lens. This SLR has a movable viewing screen that is large and very clear for the hard shots.
Pros: great features
Cons: finding lens hood in store

does everything I need.
Just great pictures.
I had an A620, then an A650 and now the SX40.
They have all done wonderfull work for me and family members as I passed them along.

Excellent picture quality Low light to Bright snow Light!!! Use indoors or out.
Pros: good battery life, Good Low-Light Performance, Nice features/settings, excellent image quality, durable, Simple controls/menu, easy to use

Great Camera

I have had this camera for over two years. Over a vacation I took over 1000 pictures and a few videos and only had to charge the battery once. The image quality is great. It has a lot of features I have not really used yet.
Pros: Super-sharp images
Cons: slo-motion video is not 1080p

The Powershot SX40 HS is very user-friendly. I consider myself a beginner in photography, but I have already taken "striking" and "amazing" shots. It's a lot of fun to see something that I like, and be able to capture it. My mom got the Powershot SX40 HS, because she likes mine. The software that came with the camera isn't bad either. I use it a lot to edit my pictures.

Just what I needed

Got it in 2012 and love it! Point and shoot before an DSLR any day. Has more features than I thought, but you don't need to use them unless you really want to. The AUTO option works just fine for most shots. Needed a new camera, but was trying to stay away from the DSLR and I am glad that I did.
Pros: Fast auto-focus, Superior build quality, Super-sharp images
Cons: flip up flash

AWESOME CAMERA

great camera i had it for 2 weeks now and its top notch just all i needs is a video light n and will be even more awesome
Pros: great pics, good video, great zoom, very good reducing noise, versatile
Cons: needs more precise video zoom, needs a pause button for videos, geo tag pics and videos needed, small screen
