Absolutely amazing!

I love, love, love this camera. I was looking for a great digital camera with a great zoom, and with lots of options & features, but couldn't afford a SLR, so after doing research, I chose to get this one and I am SO glad that I did. The pictures are beautiful & vibrant, even on its auto settings. The zoom is incredible - shows so much detail in such clarity. I love all the different options & settings. I love the LCD screen, and the fact that it has a viewfinder. Battery life is great. I have no complaints about this camera. This is my first Canon, and I will never go back to another brand ever again.
I would recommend this to a friend!

One for all and all for one!

We love to travel and take pictures. We also live in a beautiful city and love to take the camera with us when we enjoy a nice day in San Diego Ca. I purchased the SX40 after extensive research. I wanted one camera that could take near DSLR quality images. Combined with an long zoom lense and HD 1080p video with autofocus! Basically I now have one device to take everywhere and we get excellent results. We just got back from a month long mediterranean trip and the pictures and video produced were so good the almost look like they were in 3D. Colors are the most lifelike you can get and the pics were extremely sharp. The Flash works very well with true colors even with a little distance between you and the subjects. The zoom performed excellent on pictures and on video. The only thing you need to bring is the charger and an extra SD card because you will love to keep shooting with this camera. Battery life is great also. Plus you get some built in fun features like a fisheye lense. The Digic5 produces DSLR quality images and video. The only thing I would like to see improved is the size on the LCD and a auto stitch feature like another brand has.

Just What I Wanted

I have had this camera for aout 6 months now and I am very pleased. It is very easy to use and takes great looking pictures. I do wish that it came with an owners manual so I could look things up if needed. I went ahead and printed one off that I keep in a three ring binder.There are to many options for me to remember, so i need to keep looking back to check on how to do all the different settings. I am also pleased on the length of the lens because you can really zoom in nice and close on your subject.I do have a little problem when I use the macro,I seem to get a lot of blurry shots. But that could just be me.The battery lasts a long time plus I always carry an extra one just incase I would happen to need it.I also like all the promps I get like when I need to raise the flash up.Overall I would recommend this camera to anyone.

Best camera ever.

I just bought this camera a few days ago and just recently, my friends and I made a video with it. The quality is amazing! I really love the zoom and the super slow-mo.

I bought this to use to take action shots at my kids sports events. A few pictures are still blurry but for the most part they are clear. I have also video recorded football games. The video have good picture quality the only down side is that the clips are limited to approx 15 min. I have to sometimes make a 2min or less clip to record a youth football quarter then have a program to merge them. I bought this after being told the SLR are sensitive. I have no regrets in buying this camera. I have had great success with it. If you were able to record a few more mins of video I would have given this all 5 stars.

Awesome Camera. Very satisfied. Only disappointment was the optional case and no printed manual.
Everything else was more than I expected.

The best bridge camera I've tried. Super clear pics, wonderful IS and easy to use.

had for 3 yrs, their have been times when it took better photos than my t3i. continuous shooting mode rocks for sports. the controls are inconvenient , but the positives out weigh the negatives. their is really no manual mode so forget about that. It is stupid and a terrible design flaw.
