Artisan 837

The product itself is fantastic! It prints with high quality, it is quick for an at-home printer, it runs quietly and is somewhat esoteric to use. Regarding that last point, it is a GOOD thing this printer is pretty much a plug & play unit, because the provided Help and Manual are inadequate in many areas. One place in particular is the print-on-disc feature. I couldn't find instructions anywhere that told how to get to the CD-Tray button. Finally my husband helped me to figure out that you first have to show the Home screen. And it is a Press-On-Glass button located on the screen. :( So if you are familiar with Epson printers you have an advantage but if you are not, try out the posted YouTube videos, these homemade tutorials are better than the company provided documentation.

Just got the new Epson Artisan 837 all-in-one printer and haven't been able to print pictures. It keeps telling me the paper is not set correctly. Check for any objects in the casset or blocking the path and insert it correctly. Well, tell me what correctly is. I have taken it out and checked it several times and can find nothing blocking anything.
I'm now in the process of trying to find out how to scan something from the computer.

Noisy!

I purchased this printer a month ago. DO NOT BUY This model! After one week it started making noises. It is so noisy that people sitting around me complain. My primary use is for printing labels on CDs. However, when you try to print a document you get an error message that the tray is set improperly. I have had several people look at it and it is set properly. You cannot fix.

apparently I bought the wrong printer. Every other time I try to print something from this printer, I get an error message that requires me to reboot and still the darn printer does not work. I am extremely frustrated. Please allow me to return this printer and wash my hands of it. The printer cannot communicate with the printer. This is the exact reason I upgraded the printer. The previous printer could not communicate with the computer. It is unacceptable that a brand new printer cannot reliably communicate with a brand new computer.

FRUSTRATION!

What is it with all of the blue tape? I haven't yet been able to find a way to remove one strip lurking way back inside the lower portion. Sooooo . . . , I have not yet been able to print or copy anything. VERY VERY, VERY FRUSTRATING! ! ! ! At this time, I have to wonder if there may be even more such strips of tape that I can't even see. I know the purpose of the tape, and the block of foam, is to protect the printer during shipping. Why doesn't the Quick Guide mention these items and give info as to their locations and how to remove them?

First and last Epson

Never have I seen a printer that forces you to "Reverse Pages" in order to print out multiple pages, last page first. I mean, every time, which of course means I forget nearly 50% of the time. How annoying is that! I don't mind mentioning that this printer also claims to be able to print directly on "Writeable" CDs, DVD, etc. What you don't know is you actually have to print out what you want on the CD on photo paper first, then copy it onto the CD. You cannot print directly from a file. Thus, I have to keep a shoebox full of prints that I shuffle through in order to find the one I want, put it on the screen, and copy it to my writeable CD with relatively poor results. Unbelievable! These poorly designed features are absolute dealbreakers for almost everyone. I hate my Epson!

Printer is a clunker! Will not print with a USB cable and this is extremely annoying & horribly inconvenient when you are in an environment where the Internet goes down or doesn't exist.
