Epson Artisan 837 All-in-One Printer

Good quality color & B/W! The only problem I have is with it picking more than 1 piece of paper at a time. I have been using 20lb 94 paper but lately it has started this. I am going to try 24lb 96 & see if it will help. I always fan the paper when I put in my printer.

Artisan 837 falls a little short

The printer does a great job of printing single side or double sided pages. However, occasionally it will feed more than one sheet at a time. I cannot speak to how well it prints photos as I do not use that function. It is a great scanner, and copier. However, it falls short in handling envelope printing. There is no envelope batch feeding function. To print an envelope, all the paper must be removed from the paper tray before inserting the envelope one at a time, and there is no assurance the envelope will feed straight as there are no feed guides. Last but not least, 6 print cartridges are required and they are expensive.

Good resolution scanning, copying, printing.
Automatic document feeder is not functional for me. Two or three pages feed Ok. After that, not so much.
Home or SMALL business OK.

This Printer Does NOT Do What it Claims

I bought this printer to replace an Artison 810 that broke in less than a year and a half after a paper jam. I do a lot of scanning and after setting this printer up and installing the ink cartridges I read the fine print that the Epson Scan software does not work on Mac OS X 10.6 or 10.7--which most Mac users that have an up to date computer will have. You have to use Apple Image Capture and the scans come out very fuzzy. Printing from an Iphone does not work either. It keeps saying that the printer tray is empty even though it is full of paper. Save yourself a lot of trouble and just get another printer.

This thing is right there! There is no paper jam, no on and off stuff, it is just there and does what you want it to do. The quality of print is excelllent and we are looking forward to exploring its features.

Not for pros or small business

I just purchased this printer less than 30 days ago, I switched to Epson from another company because I had read that Epson produced excellent quality prints for photography. I saw the Epson Artisan 837 and it seemed to fit my needs and budget. I own a small photography/Video production studio and wanted to upgrade the quality of my prints. I liked the "printable CD/DVD feature" and I do a substantial amount of printing on high end proffesional photo paper, which is not cheap. well, this is where my issues begin, The main issue is that the paper feeder will very often feed more than one paper at a time, printing the top half of a page on one sheet and the bottom on the sheet the paper feeder grabbed, in some instances it will actually grab more than 3 pages and still print on all of them. the issue happens almost each time I print, which is both costly and frustrating. Additionally, when printing directly onto a disc (in the disc tray) the print quality is poor and looks like the colors are faded, not something that I can present to a client. Lastly, the main reason is the actual print quality on photo paper. again, the epson Artisan 837 falls considerably short of expectations. there is no control on the quality of the print, I need a much higher quality than what this printer produces. If I had a choice, I would definitely go with another printer if you need BASIC quality and above.

I'm setting up my second replacement Artisan 837. The most recent unit lasted just 3 weeks. Hopefully, this replacement will last longer.
