This is the GREATEST printer for pictures! It even makes pics from my old 6 mega pixel camera look sharp! Combine this printer with the ultra paper & even every day photos look professional.
I have returned 2 other manufactures fax machines that did not work. This Epson has worked perfectly, installed without incident, Most of the setup seemed automatic. It somehow, when i print a picture, knew to print it on the paper for pictures. and print fax's on the 8.5 X 11 paper.
I would rate this a 10 in scale of 1 to 10.
I would recommend this to a friend!

Terrible buy - not once but twice

I loved my last Epson all-in-one, which lasted years, and was shocked at how poorly this 837 performs. Neither the top feeder nor the tray consistently feeds the paper straight, causing many 're-dos'. The photo quality is poor, even on Epson paper, printer paper jams constantly with good quality paper, and it's 'twitchy' -- it makes random noises when not in use and regularly reports the phone is ringing when it's not. The feeder tray is very cheaply made. I returned the first printer through the online process after spending hours with tech support. Took two weeks to get the new one, and it had virtually all of the same issues. I checked the id #, not the same unit. I grant you it is fast when it doesn't jam.

Setting this printer up shouldn't take too much time, especially if one has previously owned another of the Artisan series, right? Well, 8-10 hours in to trying to make this system work, I had to give up. I tried virtually everything, multiple times and, in the end, just vowed to send the thing back while I could still do so and be refunded the cost.

This may be an adequate device, but I wouldn't know because the setup and wireless features are worthless. Buy the USB cable, despite what they tell you. Troubleshooting from the website is little better. You can't even print some of the suggested fixes. This is my first Epson product, and I will not buy another.

Epson Artisan 837 All-In-One Printer

I purchased this all in one 837 model primarily for reproduction of photographs but also general office work. I've been disappointed with the quality of the color prints so far. Using Epson's glossy ultra premium and another brand, the reproductions are very color intense relative to the original. I've modified the proper settings for the appropriate substrate without success. It is to be determined if this printer's settings can be modified to better match the original digital photo.

Bad printer

I have had fabulous Epson printers for more than 15 years. This one is a real lemon. Very loud when taking the paper and printing. Takes more than one sheet randomly when printing from one OR more pieces. My fault for picking a wrap around printer. They all are clumsy. I wish I could get rid of this one. Thank goodness it's cheap - it prints cheap!

To date we are quite pleased with this printer. It was very easy to install, and provides excellent printing products. Lettering is clear and concise. This is our third printer, and by far the best of the three.
