I have had a number of printer, but this is the worst. The paper keeps getting jammed. I've tried all kinds of paper and price never changed the outcome, it jammed.
Looking for new printer, EPSON will not be on my search

Quality product, misleading literature
on October 3, 2012

This printer did perform flawlessly and as a printer/scanner, I found it excellent. But I bought this unit to print on CDs. The literature says it PRINTS on discs, so I bought it. I had to send the unit back because how you image on the CD requires that you first create an original document using a word processor, or some program that can create a 4.75 x 4.75 image area. Then you take this document and place it in your printer and COPY it to the disc. Thus, this unit does not print but rather COPY onto the disc. To say it prints indicated to me that it comes with CD printing software you load onto your computer. Then you can execute the print command to the printer to image directly onto the disc.

Half love it/half hate it

I’ll try again…Epson rejected my 1st review; I’ll try to be nicer! The set up was easy, the print quality is good as is the color quality.
I’ve had 2 other brands in the past, but I’m new to Epson. This printer continually sends out several pieces of paper almost every time, which is annoying. In order to print envelopes you have to remove all of the paper and put in envelopes (and resize the paper tray sliders) which is a feature I do not like.
This is not a “load and go” paper tray (as my past printers have been)…seems I am constantly having to fool with it to either re-load the extra sheets it spit out with the printing job or to change papers re size or envelopes. It is not as sturdy feeling as previous brand printers. I don’t know if this paper tray will hold up under all of the gyrations I’m having to put it through, but I suppose time will tell.

Too hard to set up. Should be much simpler.
Color print is terribly blurry.
Will return product.

Disappointed so far

So far the printer has been something of a disappointment. On the plus side, wireless connection with my various household Macs was seamless, and the setup directions were straightforward. On the negative side, the quality of the photo prints I'm getting so far are unacceptable - large stripes of color every couple of inches, on whatever paper I use. I've followed the troubleshooting guides included in the instructions with no improvement. I've heard that Epson has excellent customer support, so my next step is to have a long conversation with a tech support person, I guess. I was hoping I wouldn't have to go through that hassle -- just plug it in and get high-quality photo prints -- but I'll deal with it ... and hopefully have more positive review once I've talked with somebody.

I've owned the Epson Artisan 837 now almost three years and it served me just great. I use it to make all greeting cards, the two side printing is just great. We use the unit for standard and legal size printing and again two side printing also helps save paper. Photo printing is just great, the 4x6 & 5x7 photo tray are always filled with one size Epson premium paper and my results are terrific. printing from my IPhone to the wireless printer very simple and easy, and printing a cd is great. I have two computers (desk top and laptop ) a tablet and IPhone that are all wireless connected. I use onley Epson Brand Ink for great color results. JUST GREAT

Jams!!

Nothing but jamming all the time, and high frequency of ink replacement for low content per page. Inconsistent performance on automatic double-siding function. Had Epson printers all my life, but the 837 really falls short compared to past products and their quality.

Worked great for the first year
on November 19, 2015

I've owned this printer for 3 years now and am about ready to throw it in the trash. It worked great for the first year- high quality photos, easy to set up and use, great for printing brochures and seemed like I made the right choice. For the past 2 years though it's had so many issues. Spitting out multiple pages at once, ink blotching in areas and the paper jams. Oh, the paper jams. At this point, about 1 out of 4 pages that prints causes a paper jam, or thinks it's a paper jam- I'll open up all areas to check for a paper jam and nothing is there. Then I have to restart the printer and the cycle repeats. There are so many good reviews, so perhaps I was just unlucky. I would buy another Epson printer, but am worried about it ending up like the 837.
