This is a very good printer. I like that the ink cartridges, can be changed out, as they empty.
The paper is easy to load, and the print is great.
I have no complaints on this printer. I use it to send and receive fax, and to make copies of old photos.

This printer has met my needs quite well. I've been satisfied with all it's functions and the software. The print quality on high quality, photo grade paper is excellent. When we needed a second printer we bought another Epson 837.
I would recommend this to a friend!

Jams all the time

I recently bought this printer and Im so frustrated with it. The paper is always jamming regardless of what I use. Ive tried to print 4x6 photos and it tells me there is no paper in the tray when there is and I have to fiddle with it for 15 minutes to get one print. When I print 8x10 standard copies it jams in the back or passes 10 papers with the 1st copy but comes out uneven, Im not happy at all. When it does print correctly, the quality is amazing, im just getting fed up with the jams or it not printing at all.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Paper tray also flimsy, holds very little paper, tries to be all things to all papers, ends up being very complicated.
NO included directions on how to use cd printing tray.
Wireless set-up went well on a Mac, but only after downloading files from Epson that are not mentioned in the manual.
Scan software also not included in installation CD. Overall, installation CD is incomplete and rushed to market.
Top tray on automatic document feed has very little flexibility for width of paper....very poorly thought out.
OVERALL - a decent all-in-one printer that essentially is another box for Epson to sell you ink for. In my opinion, this is a poorly constructed printer with much room for improvement.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Not recommended for Mac users

Although the Epson Artisan advertises as being Mac compatible I have found the scan feature and receiving faxes to be very challenging. The scanning has been hit or miss and I can send faxes, but not receive them. The printing is good quality, albeit the price of ink cartridges are very high and if one ink cartridge is depleted it will disable printing! Not clear as to why I need magenta to print a black and white document, but that's how the Artisan rolls.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

An Awesome Printer

This is an awesome printer, and highly worth its price. It was really easy to set up, the menus were clear. I did the wireless set up and never needed the USB cable. The screen is easy to see.
The amount of features for the size is impressive. It has a top feeders, scan/fax, CD printer, copy, and so much more. It has where you can put your SD card in and view your photos, pick photos to print, crop and edit photos all from the printer or one your computer.
Then when copying it lets you choose the density before it starts to copy so if you do not need to waste ink on dark colors of the item being copied you have an easy screen for doing so.
Then a really cool feature I tested out that is not perfect with really light & tiny details, but still sooooo cool is that it has where you can take a drawing or photograph and turn it into a coloring book page.
So far really excited about this printer and can not wait to test out all the featurs it offers.
I would recommend this to a friend!

Epson Artisan 837 Design is Pathetic!

This printer prints nicely, however the engineer that designed it has no idea how we use printers on this planet.
Every time you change paper . . . you have to slide the flimsy little paper catcher in, slide the paper tray out, load the paper . . . slide the flimsy little paper tray back in and reposition the flimsy little paper catcher. The sliders don't slide smoothly . . . they slide like a little plastic toy I used to play with from the dime store. I've only had the printer for 2 weeks, so I don't know if it will hold up better than the Epson Photo Stylist R300, R320 or the R340, but the design of the Epson Artisan 837 is pathetic.

This has been a horrible printer

This has been the worst printer I have ever owned. When it prints it prints in a very nice quality, but for the most part it spits out multiple pages instead of one and the ink runs all over. The ink also does not last long and is very expensive to buy. I would not recommend this printer to anyone.
