Replacement Ink cost as much as the printer. Would not recommend the printer because it cost to much to operate? Several stores do not have the ink? Enough said

Frustrated

I am not too happy with this product. I cannot print pictures that I have downloaded to my comoputer. It acts like it will print and prints the heading only. Then the rest of the paper is blank. I am totally frustrated with this product because that is the major thing I do with it is print pictures from my computer.

The printer has excellent quality for pictures, but I do not recommend this product if it is used often for lots of printing. If one of the 6 ink cartridges is empty, the printer won't print at all. Including if you are only trying to print in black and white and a color is empty, it will not print. Ink cartridges are pretty pricey as well.

Started out impressively

I thought I had found the perfect printer. Unfortunately, we have just ordered a replacement for this unit.
B&W printing is excellent. The document feeder and scanning interface is very good.
Control was lost on color printing after about three months. Image quality and color distribution came out of synch. Frequent repetitive nozzle checks and head cleanings leave me frustrated. Currently, the head is dropping gobs of ink onto color print jobs. I don't see how I could have caused this. There are no manual directions on what might be wrong that I could find.
I am a light user of the color side. Maybe that's the reason for the problems. It seems to go out of focus after a few weeks without color priint jobs.
Based on the initial success, I bought two Epson printers for other situations. They were from the WorkForce line. They are working well.

Nope---not again

As an advanced photographer I own a 3880 Stylus Pro. Excellent. When I needed a new everyday all purpose I bought the 837 Artisan. Biggest mistake going. Cannot print single sheet without removing tray. Cannot print single envelop without removing tray. Cannot print just black without using all the color inks. If one runs out will not print. Wireless works fine, fax works fine. But there are others that are less expensive to run.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

A disappointing product

Ther Artisan 837 was very disappointing in its performance. The first one I received would not boot up and had to be returned. The second one lasted ~ 14 months before the pink ink cartridge bled onto every paper printed. This was past the warranty time and I had to buy a new one.

The Print Shop 2

I have been using The Print Shop 2 with my Epson Artisan 837 All-in-One Printer. I love the fact that I can print directly onto a CD. My computer crashed & I lost everything - programs, documents, spread sheets. I was able to reinstall my Epson 837, but cannot find The Print Shop 2 (Mac Computer). I am not able to use the CD printer on Mac since I no longer have a program to design & print my own CD's. I have had several Artian All-in-One Printers. They last 2-3 years since I use it frequently. If anything goes wrong, I just get another one. They are not as expensive as some other brands, and do beautiful work.
I would recommend this to a friend!
