Great purchase

The set-up was as simple as could be, including communicating with my home wi-fi. This worried me before purchase as I am in my 70's and not very smart on computers. I have run through several prints of various sizes, including double sided and it works seamlessly. The colour is brilliant. It is an absolutely top notch product. Thanks Epson.

Excellent except for one "minor" detail

This all-in-one is truly amazing. The quality is great, it has distinctive ring capability for phone/fax, sips ink, picture quality is amazing, fit and finish is excellent and it looks good too.
The only thing it DOESN'T do is duplex scan. I don't know why they didn't put this capability in this printer, but for those who need it, it's a bummer.
If they had that capability it would get 5+ stars.

I use this with Mac OS X Lion. It works like a champ! I love the duplexer. Color output looks great!
I still have an Epson Stylus Photo 1270 that must be almost 10 years old now. It still works and I can still get drivers for OS X Lion for it. So I have reason to believe drivers for my new Artisan 837 will be available for some time. I also believe the printer itself will last a good long time.
I was a little leary looking at the web site and finding the drivers for OS X Lion might not be on the CD for my Artisan 837. I was pleasantly surprised at how easy it was to configure this printer into Lion... just follow the online instructions. After that, Mac OS X's software update will update the drivers. Epson's download navigator will take care of updating the accessory software (like the utility to print CD/DVD's and the ABBYY FineReader OCR software).
If there were two things I could change/add to this printer I would do the following:
Sometimes (about 1 in 20 sheets) the printer feeds two or three sheets instead of one. It would be nice if it _always_ just picked up one sheet. With single sided output it is no big deal; just recycle the extra pages. But with duplexed output it can be a pain to try to reprint only the pages that double or triple fed.
The input/scanner sheet feeder is one sided only. It would be nice if it had a duplexor too. (This printer/scanner has a duplexor for output only.)
Aside from those two minor nits I really like this new printer/all-in-one!

The initial set-up was timely, however the step by step instructions made it very easy. I LOVE this printer. It is very user friendly.

I only use Epson printers after having tried several other brands. Printing photos for private as well as professional the vibrant of color can not be compared to any other. Even the simplicity of connecting it to my network was effortless. I love helping the environment with the ability to print on both sides of paper which also saves me having to buy more reams of paper.

Setup was easy. Connected to my network first try! All features worked better than I anticipated. Good price at Staples! I'ved used Epson printers since dot matrix days. Never a bad one!
