Epson Artisan 837

I am very impressed with the quality of the pictures but much of what I print is card stock. With the 837, printing matte is brutal to deal with. I'm just waiting for it to die so I can justify buying a printer that can handle this weight of paper.

Not so great

I see so many good reviews, but my experience has not been so good. In fact, this is the worst printer I have ever owned. I bought it because it was supposedly good for art work but I have found that this printer has the worst color of any I have ever had. The color print quality has been terrible and especially for photos and my drawings and I had tried every adjustment. The touch screen has been extremely annoying and at times I can't even get the start button to work! The paper feed also has issues and certain papers types and thickness which should go thru won't. It also won't take used paper. Once it's been thru the printer once when you try to print on the opposite side and put it back in the tray, it will pull several sheets of paper thru at a time and not print the sheet correctly. The price was way more than the worth of this printer to me. Very disappointed.

This is the worst all-in-one I have ever had. Since our home business requires printing high quality promotional materials it sounded like the Artisan 837 would be a perfect fit. Print speed is fast and of good quality, however, getting it to print on a single page is too much to ask. The paper feed is a nightmare! It will feed anywhere from 1-6 pages through at a time they may be on in a stack or more likely they will be "fanned" so that a part of the image is on up to six separate sheets. I tried various weights and brands of paper but nothing helped. I cannot afford the cost of paper to a good copy. Also, the touch screen has a mind of it's own. It responds whenever it takes a notion.

I have had Epson printers for years and was very happy with them. I do a lot of graphic design work and print on photo paper. I was looking for a good photo printer with wireless capabilities. The first printer had to be sent back because of paper feed issues. Epson did send free of charge a refurbished printer. The paper feed is very flimsy and still will not take any heavier papers or cardstock. The quality of the plastic parts is poor. Now I am having a problem with the ink and the colors printing way off.the cartridges are full and I was told it may be a bad or old cartridge! There are a lot of cartridges and they are somewhat expensive so do I replace them all and hope??

Best Picture prints - Questionable Hardware
on October 16, 2014

Take a while to investigate EPSON printers. I chose to ignore the ink-cartridge issues known with EPSON because EPSON tends to have the best picture print quality.
That being said, I have used my printer (maybe once or twice/week, printing two or three 4X6 pictures) for the past two years.
Then the issue known to these printers started to appear. In order to protect their ink sales they have cartridge recognition, and once you start to have problems with that, it's a hit or miss if your printer will ever work again.
We have always used original EPSON ink, again because of the quality of print. After following all instructions on how to save the printer, it's now headed for the trash. You can search the internet for ESPSON ink recognition and you will see the many video and posts out there to help you solve this problem. Clearly there's an issue, one I should have considered stronger.
Back to HP for me which is unfortunate, I hope they solve this issue, I would probably return.

EXCELLENT Printer

I LOVE this printer. For photo printing, it is the BEST printer that I've ever owned, rivaling those costing hundreds of dollars more.
And I like the way it automatically handles two-sided documents. Turning the page over to print on the back side is nothing short of magic.
The Wi-Fi connect makes the printer available to any computer on your home network without the need for a wired hookup. You can even print from tablets and phones with Epson's software and apps.
I would tell you the con's about this printer, but I really can't think of any. Overall, the best printer I have ever owned. I would not hesitate to recommend this printer to others.
I would recommend this to a friend!
