Epson Artisan 730 All-in-One Printer

A surprising bundle of capability that was simple to set up, and intuitive to operate. The six color print system gave remarkably vivid pictures with added convenience that only the cartridge that is out of ink needs replacement. Two-sided printing is also a real bonus. Scanner software samples the image and sets its own parameters and then loads the image right into the download folder as a jpeg picture. Scanner also has color correction feature to repair old photographs, but I have not used that feature. Nor have I tried to scan to OCR. No fax, but that is not a feature that I need. No slides, but I can get a separate slide scanner. Pixel resolution is greater than necessary for my 7.0 megapixel camera. I really like easy-to-use equipment and this printer nicely compliments my Macintosh.

All aspects of this machine are as advertised, except for printing time on 4 x 6 prints (actually maybe 30 seconds - still fine). I have an iMac running OSX 10.5.11, and the software that came on the CD would not allow me to recognize the printer - I went to the Epson site and downloaded the software, and all worked well.
It should be noted that Epson inks take a LONG time to dry on older glossy paper!

I am an artist and keep copies of my paintings. Just bought this printer yesterday so haven't had very much experience with it BUT I took a camera card in to a store and tried three photos of my paintings on different printers and the Epson Artisan 730 produced the very best copies....colors exactly like the original paintings. I am amazed! Have tried 5 other printers without any of them producing the color like the Epson.

Very simple to install. Used for photos, copies, and CD/DVD printing. The CD printing surprised me, it is that good!! Purchased as a second printer, but I am using it all the time.

Artisan 730 - YES!!

Within 20 minutes I had this printer set up, wirelessly printed a test page from a Macbook, a PC Laptop, an iPhone and an HTC Android Phone (phones used the EPSON iprint app). The printer was placed two rooms away from the printing sources and was almost done with each of the pages by the time I made it into the room. It's fast, quiet and efficient, and most definitely one of the best all-in-one printers with wireless and e-print capabilities. I do not take electronics purchases lightly. I do a significant amount of research and try to get the best buy+performance combination. I would highly recommend the EPSON Artisan for the home, home office or even a small business that needs a network/wireless printer.

A very good choice

I purchased the Epson Artisian 730 for its wireless printing and scanning for home office. I found it easy to install and set up from the front panel without a cable. It works great! No issues using it from our 2 Windows 7 Laptops. I had read that it used excessive ink. I have found that it does not. It is much better on ink than the previous competitor's model. I am a network engineer and create very detailed Visio drawings of our networks. The prints are perfect! I have only had it a month so I cannot speak to durability but so far I think this was a good choice.

I literally took it out of the box about an hour and half ago so here's what I think so far...The set-up was extremely easy and for that I would give it 5 stars...I like the sleek look however the paper tray and the output tray is a bit inconvenient. The old back loading feature on my CX6600 was way better. Perhaps it's just my unit but I think it is a bit loud and clunky sounding when grabbing paper, it almost sounds like it will jam with just copy paper. The color copy I made from canvas art was great (colors matched well), however the prints I've made from photoshop files were off color for sure, even though I selected colorsync. So I may have to figure something out there to adjust the colors...also the ink has a VERY funky scent...Durabrite was unscented. I miss my old printer for sure, but not worth fixing...aahhh it had a good run of 5 years... I'll TRY and be friends with my new one...
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

I owned an Epson Stylus CX7800 for at least 8 years and used it hard, LOVED it , but it wore out eventually. Since I had a good experience I purchased another Epson. I've used this Artisan 730 for over a week. From my experience this far it I have the complaints -
-photo coloring looks unnatural / has greenish tint -switching from paper / photos to envelopes is a hassle. (I make a lot of greeting cards and print a lot of photos ... switching paper types and printing the envelopes used to be easy, now it's a pain.)
on the positive side - it does print much fast than my old Stylus
