Very Pleased with this printer

I searched for a new printer for over 6 months as my old one was dying. I finally focused on the Pro 8600 because of the extra large ink volume. From all printers I considered I needed one which was easy for my wife to use and this one is

I bought this printer because I had a 3 year old HP 7280 all-in-one which still worked just fine. But my experience has been that about 3 years is the limit for my former printers. While dismantling the 7280 I discovered a black ink cartridge had leaked and left messy ink all over the printer stand. I couldn't see it until it was moved. Pretty messy but cleaned up OK. The 8600 plus functions just as advertised and works just fine.
I'm happy I upgraded.
HP has always been my choice in printers.

Poor scanning software

I give it one star because this is the 3rd officejet pro I have purchased. (R-40, 8500, 8600). I love the machines in themselves but each one is a great dissapointment in the area of scanning. Document scanning is my main use. If you make the settings low the scans are unusable. If you make the settings higher the document files are incredibly high and cannot be emailed. I have tried every combination of settings and many online cures but still have found nothing satisfactory. With each purchase I hoped that the problem had been corrected because I assumed that HP was aware of the considerable amount of online complaints about it...well the 8600 is no better. Three strikes and you are out! I'm going with another brand.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

So far so good haven't really used it to much I did print a couple of 8x10 pictures and came out very professional, the one thing I don't like it make a loud noise when starting to print I don't know if that a real problem or if that's what the printer does, that's why I gave it a 4 star

Great Printer, Easy Setup

Have only had about 3 weeks. Have tried most features and so far the set up was easy. Have used it with a wired and wireless settings. Have printed pictures and they are good quality. Having to change the paper to photo paper is different from my previous HP AIO (not a big issue for me). Have used the Fax option. Touch screen works fine.Satisfied with my purchase to date.

Too New to really evaluate

The only thing I need is a manuel in my hand on how to get this printer to do what I want.. As a less than skillful computor user it is rather complicated to try to get it to do what I want it to. I can never remember where the manuel is on your website. I ususlly use only the basic tasks but wanted to do more complicated things like double face printing so that maybe I can print out the 250 page manual on approx. 130 pages.
