If only it did what it promised

Nice design. Sounds good when it works. Easy to setup and get onto my wireless network. However, the Philips speaker always stops playing about 35-40 seconds into any Airplay stream. This is no exaggeration. EVERY TIME, without exceptions. Happens even when I power off all other wireless devices in the home and disconnect all wired connections from my router. Would not recommend until Philips gets its act together and updates the firmware to work as advertised.
Pros: design, easy to setup
Cons: this airplay speaker does not play via airplay
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Dear Valued Consumer,
There have been reports of various stability issues with AirPlay, which affect not only Philips products, but any AirPlay enabled device, regardless of manufacturer. Support forums on several websites confirm that this is a problem that many consumers have encountered, and it affects a variety of router – device combinations.
The latest release of Apple’s iOS 5.1 software contains certain bug-fixes that will greatly improve this situation. Consumers who are experiencing any stability issues with Philips AirPlay enabled speakers are encouraged to update the software on their iOS device to the latest software version.
Sincerely,
Philips Consumer Lifestyle Consumer Care

Playback stops every 5 to 10 minutes for 1 to 10 seconds

Well, it is a nice and shiny product. Setup process is straight forward. It took me about 5 minutes. Also, at least in Germany, it is the cheapest one. IF it would work properly, i'd say very very well done! If ...
The bad stuff: - music stops every now and then for a few seconds - it seems to worsen with increased wireless network traffic (but that might be coincidence) - it does not matter if you use an iPhone or iTunes as playback device, you get interruptions in both cases - if you stream to several airplay clients (rooms) adding the philips box will "crash" not only the box itself but all other clients as well - by crashing i mean something like 2 seconds sound, 10 seconds pause and so on - if you disable playback on the the philips box, everything works as expected again
my (physical) setup - iphone 4 (iOS 5.1) - iTunes on a mac - alice dsl wireless router (Alice Modem WLAN 1121, firmware 4.257, wpa2/tkip encryption) - two airport express clients
so far i don't see a firmware update for the ad7000w anywhere i think i'll wait for it a month or two if there is none i'll return it
Pros: sound, design (apart from blue led), setup process
Cons: sound interruptions every few minutes, crashes airplay speaker group
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

The Fidelio has great sound and fills a pretty large room. It has a sleak unobtrusive design and is very portable. It is the perfect airplay device, when it works. I don't know if it is a driver issue or an airplay issue, but I have set up my wifi network based on the Phillips and Apple recommendations and the Fidelio still looses connection randomly every 10 minutes or so. It is the only AirPlay device that I have had any connectivity problems with. I recommend this product on the assumption that a fix is being worked out.
Pros: great sound, attractive design
Cons: airplay connectivity issues
I would recommend this to a friend!

I saw this as a whole house solution alternative to sonos. I own two, and one just doesn't connect. I might press the wps button again, but THAT drops one of my laptops off the network, or seems to.
Pros: great sound and great approach
Cons: can't connect, lack of xface stymies features to connect it.

I have give top marks for Performance. As for ease of use, I do not know whether Phillips is working within some limitations. Pushing the button at the back 5 secs after the blue light stops flickering. Can this be eliminated with a timer to do this function automatically?. Again the buttons being at the rear is a little inconvenient. Prefer that the buttons be in the front.
Pros: good performance
Cons: buttons at the back makes it difficult to access
I would recommend this to a friend!

I bought this for my wife for Christmas. She really loves it and likes being able to stream her music from her iPad. She moves the speaker around the house depending on what's she's doing. I really like the AirPlay technology. I'd like to get a receiver that this feature and do a whole home audio set up.
Pros: the sound quality is good., easy to set up.
Cons: shiny black plastics attracts dust., shiny black plastic scratches.
