Product Firmware is Buggy - NOT AIRPLAY RELATED
on July 15, 2012

This is a decent product, however there are multiple issues with the factory firmware. The issues users are describing are not related to Airplay. The unit "forgets" it's own hostname and will randomly reset to default. This is not an airplay issue.
The unit will also stop responding to ICMP ping. This is not an airplay issue.
Philips has patched other Fidelio models for "robustness" and other bug fixes. Please give the AD7000W some attention. It is a decent product, but badly in need of bug fixes.
Pros: good sound, attractive
Cons: buggy firmware

Could be great but the technology is buggy
on December 16, 2012

The sound is pretty good for such a small footprint. But only 1 of my 3 apple devices recognize it via AirPlay (ironically an old iPod Touch G2, not my Mac Mini or Macbook Pro). It also has to be restarted periodically. Seems buggy.
My first though was to update the firmware . . . but that was a frustrating experience. Philips has a video tutorial but no firmware links on the support site. Searching for AD7000W under software "Software & Drivers" returns nothing.
My current firmware version is 3.8.78.3790. I'm hoping this isn't like some technology devices where it is a "throwaway" model . . . meaning Philips has no intention of fixing bugs or keeping the product up-to-date. It could be a could be pretty good if it worked as advertised.
Pros: sounds good
Cons: buggy
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Product Abandoned by Philips

We have an iPad one with iOS5 on it - speaker works great that that - but DOES NOT work with our iOS6 iPhone 5s, nor our MacBook Air. Sound constantly drops with the newer devices. This is something a firmware upgrade should be able to fix. They have a great video as to how to upgrade the firmware - but there is no firmware file to be found. It seems like they are just leaving owners of this product in the lurch. So only buy this if you have iOS5 devices with no intention of ever updating them.
Pros: works great with ios 5
Cons: does not work with ios 6, total lack of support from philips

When it works, it works great. Beautiful sound

Other reviews list AirPlay problems. I never have any of those, mine has wireless issues. It does not stay linked to my Access Point (home network) even though it has great signal strength when connected to AP. The speaker is only 15ft. from the Access Point and loses connections many times during the day (blinking LED on back). If I want to use it I need to power cycle it which loses all the Equalizer settings that were done through the Philips IPAD app. Love the sound but wish it would stay connected.
Pros: beautiful sound, nice design
Cons: does not stay network connected, loses equalizer settings when power cycled

Intermittent Connectivity with iOS6 and MacBook Pro

As many other reviews have said, this is a great looking product, but if falls short of performing adequately. AirPlay performance is simply unreliable. Philips has training videos on how to upgrade the firmware, but they are useless unless they provide the links to the firmware. Product registration for the AD7000W/37 is also not possible, yet there is a support page for the product.
Pros: design
Cons: wireless connectivity

inconsistent in connecting and it takes 5 to 10 minutes before is works so you never know if it's working. When it does connect the sound is excellent.
