Looks and sounds better than competitors, awful support and connectivity

Not a single firmware update despite obvious problems with connections - wireless and wired.
Probably should have been recalled due to faulty components. Airplay and connectivity were key features.
Pros: audio, design
Cons: airplay, usb needs frequent restart
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

I find that this unit does not stay connected to a Wi-Fi system. My experience is that if its not used for a period of time or even when it is used constantly, the unit losses connection.
Cons: does not stay connected to the wi-fi system
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

The set-up was not easy, took at least five attempts. When streaming music via air-play, connection gets lost. very irritating. Great sound though
Pros: sound quality
Cons: set-up, no app that works, does not work for android

Absolutely terrible experience

I have never had such a bad experience with an electronics product-- Philips or otherwise. The first unit I received randomly turned on and off, would sometimes allow volume control and sometimes not, would drop the connection randomly, and eventually was unusable. I contacted Philips and was immediately offered a replacement upon giving my serial number (clearly, Philips knew it was defective).
Unfortunately, the second unit is also filled with problems: mostly locked out of volume control, turning on and off itself randomly, will not shut down without being unplugged, random drop-outs of sound, etc. It's unusable. This is *not* because of the signal strength, interference, or other environmental factors: no other AirPlay devices have ever had problems, and I have troubleshooted this thoroughly. A true waste of money. Such a shame. Now I'm out of the original warranty period and without recourse.
I have desperately hoped Philips would come up with a firmware update or other fix for this, but now realize support for this product has been abandoned.
Pros: design; idea behind it
Cons: highly flawed product
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

My device sounds great when it's getting good connection. I have an issue with mine now where it won't turn off when I press the power button. Very annoying. Don't want to call Philips because I'm sure it would be a pain to go through the replacement process.
Pros: design, sound
Cons: power button, airplay connection
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Amazing Sound, easy to use

I have read the negative reviews of this product but have to believe the authors are missing a critical point. This is a wireless product. As such, the quality and consistency of sound is based on the wireless bandwidth and interference present on the network. Admittedly, when I initially began using it, there were some drop-outs in sound. On further review of my setup, I discovered the glitches to be due to the distance of my wireless music server from the router. It had nothing to do with the speaker. After relocating the server (which I created out of a first-generation AppleTV), it works flawlessly. Now I have a whole-house wireless music system running off of an inexpensive server that sounds great, impresses my guests, and is completely controllable using the free remote app for my iPhone/iPad! Also, I saved a bundle by ordering refurbished AD7000's. We're quite happy and hope others take the chance on this amazing little speaker with impressive sound.
Pros: incredible sound for its size with robust bass, the least-expensive option offering airplay, makes my wife happy
Cons: none so far
I would recommend this to a friend!

constantly dropping connection, no 4S support

I love the shape and the sound. It was a little tricky setting it up, but once connected, I was really excited. Until it began dropping connectivity. It happens at least a few times an hour. I turn it back on, but it happens again. I attempted the troubleshooting steps, but the issue persists. Also my iPhone 4s doesn't work with it, and apparently Philips is attempting to fix it, but that is my primary device. After a week, the Soundavia renamed itself, BRIDGECO 093408?????
Pros: sound, design
Cons: unusable
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Dear Valued Consumer,

There have been reports of various stability issues with AirPlay, which affect not only Philips products, but any AirPlay enabled device, regardless of manufacturer. Support forums on several websites confirm that this is a problem that many consumers have encountered, and it affects a variety of router – device combinations.

The latest release of Apple’s iOS 5.1 software contains certain bug-fixes that will greatly improve this situation. Consumers who are experiencing any stability issues with Philips AirPlay enabled speakers are encouraged to update the software on their iOS device to the latest software version.

Sincerely,

Philips Consumer Lifestyle Consumer Care
