This refrigerator came with our new house. I am so disappointed with the room inside! I wish I could upgrade to a bigger fridge and trade this one in! Small ice maker, would not suggest the side by side!!!
I bought appliance among other 4 Kitchenaid appliances about 5 months ago. Everything seems to bre great except for door not closing easily and sometimes it stays opened. Service technician found that hinge was worn out (apparently a defect since problem was there from time of installation). Hinges were replaced and it seems to be working well now. In addition, I think the water filter needed to be replaced prematurely (about 3 months) and it is expensive ($50).
This is my second refrigerator from the Kitchenaid Architect Series. We replaced our first one, which was purchased in 2001, this spring with another Architect, because of the unusual size. The Architect refrigerators are just a couple of inches taller than standard built in's, and since we did not want to re-do the existing cabinetry, we simply replaced what we had with a newer model.
the original refrigerator was not that wonderful to begin with. In the 10 years that we have owned it, we have replaced the compressor, and the freezer door, and have had to re-sand our kitchen floors after the icemaker leaked repeatedly. Finally we had had enough, and though we were not happy to buy another similar model, we had no choice.
Well, I would be happy to have my old one back! This newer version seems much smaller inside. The icemaker is so loud that it is disruptive. The bins are of a cheap, brittle plastic. They don't slide well, and a couple of them have cracked within 6 months.
If you are considering this refrigerator, think again!! Look into other brands, but don't buy this one!!
I know I sound like my mother, but they just don't make 'em like they used to!!
Pros: Nice lighting
Cons: Small interior, Cheap construction, loud icemaker
Refrigerator delivered with a broken bottom hinge , service call to get that repaired. Three weeks later ice maker stopped making ice , service call for that. Had to replace part.
We love our new counter depth refrigerator. We were surprised to find that when you get a glass of water from the water dispenser, it even tells you how many ounces you have taken!
Beautiful design in stainless. The sides of the fridge are grey, not stainless; this blends in well with the overall look of the fridge and our kitchen. Fancy new interior lighting; very bright; nice. I find shelving very adequate for our needs [an empty nest couple], even when the kids come home. It's counter depth, so it's not as big as the built-in fridge in our previous home ...but that was expected. Only complaint is that the ice-maker is the SLOWEST on the planet: I think it makes 3 cubes at a time! Am guessing they did that to optimize interior space. It's not a deal breaker for us. This fridge does not disappoint.
Pros: Innovative, Design, Convenient Features, easy to use, Performance
Love it! Best design of interior space and lighting

Best refrig I have owned to date (30 years). Interior shelf space is maximized and lighting is excellent. Ice dispenser is noisy, at times, and can be startling.
