TERRIBLE PRODUCT

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] After renovating our kitchen, we purchased all new KitchenAid appliances and this (now discontinued) refrigerator has under-performed from the very beginning. Fast forward two years of owning and operating this unit: the appliance has all but failed us. We have to completely disassemble the cooling unit and defrost the fan element at least every 3 weeks. That's right - within 3 weeks, the fan and condensing unit is completely encased in solid ice. If there were a way to attach images to this review, I would show you the pictures I took of my husband doing it this weekend. After completing the process yesterday, it required 3 hours to manually defrost; that doesn't include the time it takes to completely empty the contents of the refrigerator and pack them in coolers to stay cold off-site during the defrost process. We lose hours of time each month for required "maintenance" on a completely ill-performing appliance. I have called KitchenAid with regard to this issue and am told that this is standard maintenance on refrigerators. I'm sorry but having to defrost and deice this appliance every 3 weeks should NOT be considered standard maintenance. And for a family with two small children (ages 2 and 6 month), this time is crippling our weekends. A word of warning to anyone out there that doesn't want to have to invest this much time and energy into your appliance: save yourself the hassle and buy another brand!!! I have been loyal to KitchenAid for years and have installed them in both of the houses we built previous to this one -- but this is my breaking point. #fail #extremelydisappointed

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I purchased this about 5 years ago as it matched the other appliances I purchased, range/oven and dishwasher. It never really performed properly, softened ice cream, periodically the ice maker would stop working and then all of a sudden there was ice again. The design is poorly thought out with a random small shelf under the center drawer in fridge and the drawers are flimsy and break easily. A few days ago it started making a loud buzzing noise inside the refrigerator, the ice had stopped working...AGAIN and the freezer seemed to be warming, despite putting it on max ice and max cool settings, as usual. I cleaned everything under and removed the back panel to dust and see if there was something obvious. Low and behold, the buzzing stopped by the next day and there was hope. Well, by the evening, everything in the freezer thawed and the fridge is gone too. I am not even going to get it fixed as it never worked properly. Come to find out this is a common problem of Kitchenaide refrigerators.

My only complaint is that the door bins really only fit in a certain configuration - a tip that we discovered only after moving them around, trying to close the door, and denting the metal banding on one of the drawers. Also wish that there was an option for a deeper door bin - one that would hold taller bottles without them falling over.
Pros: Design, Convenient Features, BEAUTIFUL, easy to use
Cons: limited door bin options

We are very pleased with the products and would recommend them. We are a family of 2 and don't require a large refrigerator. I have had other brands including subzero and I fell this is just as good as the more expensive options.
