The reason I continue to buy OtterBox cases is the durability. No doubt it protects the phone. This one can be a challenge to open so I expect the phone will be well protected for quite some time.
My only complaint is there is space between the phone and the screen so very firm pressure is required to close the gap so you can use the touchscreen. Debating on adding a screen protector to try and reduce the spacing.

A car (maybe more than one) just ran over my phone

... and my phone is fine! I'd gotten out of my truck at my local library and placed a folio-sized book and two magazines on the edge of my truck bed, on top I'd placed my Droid Mini. I realized I had another errand to run and then simply got back in my truck and absent-mindedly drove off... the magazines, book, and phone fell off immediately (as I'd later learned from a library patron who'd told me right where she'd found them--in the street near the driveway#. The plastic screen protector had mostly pulled free from the edges of the top cover and bowed upward somewhat; the plastic edges of the top cover were just slightly roughened and dimpled at their crests where the meet the silicone cover; nothing happened to the silicone cover. My conclusion was that the magazines had fallen over the phone #there were gravel pock marks on one of the magazine covers), which of course offered some protection, but it's clear the case made the difference. My Droid is fully functional... there's not even one nick in the screen and the phone bore the impact face down. I did remove the plastic screen protector, not because it was scratched, but because a good deal of dust had made its way between it and the screen--the only con I can imagine. Larger point, this case has already served its purpose, saving me hundreds of dollars, and it will continue serving its purpose admirably despite being run over by a car!
