The first Otterbox case held in too much battery heat, causing the battery to overheat and have significantly shorter battery use. The only fix was to remove the case when charging. After replacing the battery and removing the case every time I charged the phone, I got normal run times.
The latest case (Droid Maxx) has not affected the battery run time. I think its because its not completely sealed. The camera, speaker and microphone are all left open. It performs well (I am a contractor and I routinely expose my phone to harsh elements). My only concern so far is I had to have the holster replaced only a few months into owning it. It hooked on my seat belt strap and snapped the belt clip. Not in a way that could be repaired. It broke the entire chunk of plastic surrounding the pivot portion. I hope this isn't a regular problem.
I also have difficulty removing the case to clean the phone. When I had to remove the case to send a photo of the parts I had when warrantying the holster, the case was damaged in doing so.
Pros: phone protection good
Cons: Not durable, holster breaks easily, removing case to clean phone is hard on the case.

The case protects the phone very well--the belt clip plastic bracket explodes on impact..just got it replaced, while at work i brushed up against equipment, clip came off and phone hit floor...bracket swivel clip snapped off on impact...i guess they need to make a case that phone with protecter on fits into-and this needs to securely connect to belt or pocket...the plastic one otter supplies with phone protector is JUNK-maybe they need to make a protector for the belt clip?

Almost everything is great about the Otter. But, between the Protective screen getting dirty inside, the difficulty taking it apart and breaking the nibs and the Belt Clip breaking all the time from getting in and out of vehicles or catching on something and breaking off is just a pain! The Belt Clip is virtually useless. They should make a Metal Belt Clip case for the Otter or make it so it is actually harder to break the Belt Clip. I used to work for quality control and always found that Belt Clips were the biggest issue for phone cases. Work on that and the product would be 10x betteer and give the company a much better name.
Pros: high quality phone casing
Cons: belt clip poor quality
